Hello, does anyone know about any rock climbing clubs or indoor climbing walls on Santiago island? I can't find any...

Hi Alessia,

You can do some rock climbing in the crater of the volcano on Fogo. There is one business (foreigner owned) that offers this type of activity.

Then there are guided tours on the mountainous islands (Santiago, Santo Ant茫o, S茫o Nicolau and Fogo/Brava) where groups ascend certain mountains along hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty. But they do not climb the rock faces.

There are no rock-climbing clubs as there is less than a handful of residents (foreigners) who might even have the skills to do this. The challenge is that there is no rock climbing equipment available in Cape Verde, and there are no rescue services (helicopters, rescue teams, etc) should anyone have any difficulty during such activity. Perhaps you might start such a club yourself.

There are no indoor climbing walls anywhere in CV. Perhaps this is an activity that you might offer by starting such a business. That's how many new and interesting businesses are started in Cape Verde for locals and especially tourists...a foreigner who visits Cape Verde observes that certain product and service offerings, popular in foreign countries, are missing. They then create a business to offer the missing product or service.

There are certainly lots of rocks here in Cape Verde. You may be on to a pretty lucrative idea.
