Average rent of an apartment between 6000-10,000拢E and up for flats that cater to expats - depending on the size & location, or from 3000 - 5000拢E for a clean, decent, furnished 2-3 bedroom flat in the city core then of course there are the villas in the suburbs for 40,000拢E and up (& usually demanded in USD$)
> How much do you pay for your public transport tickets (bus, subway, train, tram)? :: varies from 1拢E (metro) -5拢E (bus/micro bus for under 10km) however most expats use Uber/Careem/Ousta/London Cabs or private car & driver (6000-10,000拢E/month) since public transit is very crowded and difficult to navigate without some Arabic and often way laid by traffic jams
> Staple food: what do people eat and how much do they pay for basic food like bread, rice or pasta? :: loads of flat bread (aish), rice and pasta here for 5-10拢E for up to 500g packages (some items like cooking oil, sugar, contraceptives and cooking gas have experienced "supply issues" and the prices have varied wildly depending on location)
>What is your monthly grocery budget? :: varies dramatically according to where you shop and if you purchase imported items or not - 2000拢E or less if you watch for good prices and buy mostly local items or 6000拢E and up if you shop in the big box stores and buy a lot of foreign imported items
> How much does it cost to see a physician/doctor/specialist in Egypt ? :: if no insurance 400-600拢E per visit not including any treatments or diagnostics
> What is your children's schooling monthly budget? :: up to 6000-10,000拢E or more per month for international schools
> How much does it cost to fill up your car’s fuel tank? ::160拢E (40L) and up (obviously depending on size of tank)
> How much do you pay for electricity/gas/water etc.? :: nothing for water, gas is usually under 10拢E for cooker only (more if for hot water) and electricity varies depending on usage of air conditioner, electric heaters, water heaters and appliances but basic is around 200拢E per month that can be as much as 7000拢E with air conditioners & lots of appliances
> How much do you pay for your Internet/phone subscription? :: 700拢E for 3-months (TE Data) landline & Basic ADSL internet
> How much do you pay for your lunch on weekdays? :: 5-100拢E and up depending on location and if I eat "baladi-style" (local) or at a foreign chain
> How much do you pay for an espresso coffee? 10-20拢E and up depending on the shop
> How much do you pay for a cinema ticket? 40拢E for basic and 60拢E for VIP
> How much does a gym membership cost in Egypt? varies from 1000拢E and up depending on location
> OTHER: local wine is 75-150拢E & beer 8-15拢E per bottle from the bottle shop; cigarettes 15-30拢E per packet of 20 and an average night out for drinks or night clubbing can cost 1000拢E per person and up
Cairo is experiencing 30% inflation but most things have doubled or tripled in price over the last year
