Meet my Stalker
Now he calls me almost everyday (for the past 3 weeks)聽 I only ever answered the calls when I thought he was normal, but I have entirely ignored the last 20 or so calls.聽
Then he spotted me one day and approached me declaring (very loudly in a nice, civilised cafe) that he had been calling and calling and I never answer.聽 Wanting to cool down the situation (which could have been very humiliating) I said "Oh well I think my phone is broken" and sort of brushed him off until he went and sat far away.聽 I exited聽 swiftly and didn't talk to him again. But he didn't get the hint, he kept calling. Thing is- I never, ever answer the phone.
In this culture what's the best thing to do?
What would be a sure fire way of getting rid of this little creep?

There is stuff like intellectual blindness vs. plain arrogance vs. complicated dumbness vs. sense of shame etc. to consider.
To do? Brilliant choices will flow below this post (I hope! and am sure).
Meanwhile, you may want to consider if it will help to tell the gimp in simple plain words.
Well, for starters, ask your phone service provider to block his phone number.
Move hindsight - into foresight! and then see what happens.

Just tell him that you find his calls inconvenient to the level of harassment, thats the sure way that he'll understand the msg.
There will be no room for misinterpretation & its a sure way to get rid of the (GIMP) whatever that means.
That should work
Problem is, what we would consider to be normal behaviour, friendly, and networking, is often considered very differently here. The police is the best solution, in case you are inside shops, supermarket and offices, just call the manager and the "gentleman" will be fired immediately.
Good luck and of course don't give your private number to anyone.

I get crank callers too!! It's fine when you don't know them because you can ignore them and get away with it.
I suggest that you follow Leprechaun's advice.
It will work

聽 How do you know the price of viagra? Have you used it? Do these Mediterranean men need something like this? They are known as being enough " strong", compare with Northern people, but who knows? Maybe they re exasperated they ll not manage !
Concerning the phone call, my advice, ANSWER THE CALL, just pressing the key, and let the phone away from you. He will spend his credit with no use! After some time, realizing you don t listen to him, he will give up!
Don t call any policemen, they ll laugh cause this is their mentality!
Let this to be a lesson for you and never to give people that you don t know enough, your phone number!
I am going to block the number, give the phone to a male friend if he then uses a different number, answer the call and leave it off the hook and if pushed, will be 100% frank!
After that, I cannot be held accountable for my actions!
Not answering will allow him any free time he has, to use disturbing you! He feels like having a party, like attending at a show!
It is a " type of answering"! Just press " green key" and don t keep the phone, don t listen! In some days all will be ok!
Numbers couldn t be blocked! I tried using " Etisalat" to block somebody, it lasted a lot till " customer service" understood what I wanted, then they explain it s not possible!

One of my guys is a kind of distributor, he has the pockets full for all the colleagues in need of ....
It means that selling Viagra is a good business! I will keep in my mind!
valibilic wrote:OOOHHHHH!!!聽 聽For colleagues? Why do they need Viagra at job?

Right, why they need viagra if they don't work at all, so they cannot be tired???

I have an experience like this , some months in a job where all people drank a lot of very sweat tea, and pretended they work!
Also, I have understood that your colleagues took Viagra , not for job side, ohhhh聽 God guards it, just for being ready for their next activity : going home, or some of them homes, having many many wives, so really they need " support" in this case!

I have understood nothing!
Who should call? What s the benefit?
try to guess what could it be and let me know and i will tell you what to do..
I have tried this several times with my mom and it works but it just needs some patience and tactics
.Most be done a serious research ! And for what?
Too much work for the brain!
The solution: IGNORANCE!
that was my mom's case, she couldn't use the phone for weeks..
It will be nice to know what worked for you.
Perhaps, we all may learn how to shut down stalkers .. or how to avoid being shut down ..

I don't answer the phone unless I know who is calling (oops, did I forget to put my employer's number in the address book)
It's a little convoluted but jobs a good un.

Strange that nobody told you just to change the number that is the easiest way to get rid of calls you don't want lol. Other solution is you can block phone numbers on most of the newer phones and this is not related to the Mobile provider at all.
Happy you get rid of your stalker.
