UK citizens - documents marriage in Kenya (CNI/CONI)

I have seen a few posts on this - but quite a while back - is there anyone here - British / UK passport who has recent experience of what actual documents they obtained to facilitate their marriage to a Kenyan in Kenya.

My issue is the fact the UK government does not issue Cert. of non impediment (CNI/CONI) as Kenya is a commonwealth country. Secondly, the UK is four nations - each with their own 3 Registers (covering Eng/Wales, Scotland and NI) with their own offers on substitute documents.

GRO can issue a 'trace letter' - that search is for England/Wales only - so do clearly i question it's validity as its not PAN UK (no search on Scotland and NI)! or does that suffice?

Any pointers to actual experiences welcomed. Final one, I read that if recently divorced, you do not need a CNI/CONI if the divorce occured within the last year (again, unsure on that one!).
