The new limit to carry cash from Thailand is US$15,000. I carry the cash when traveling and then leave baht with a trusted friend in Thailand who does a WU transfer when requested. WU limit is $5,000.

Unreal seems just about everyone is leaving Thailand and joining Cambodia, Thailands had its day the visa broke the camels back.

It was never 20k,  always 10k.

You can bring in as much as you want,  if you declare it when it's more than 10k.

Easiest and cheapest way is to take 10k with you on several trips from The to Cambodia.

Take cash with you on several trips and deposit them in your Cambodian bank account.
No costs, no fees.
Up to $10,000 you can take it with no declaration, over that amount you should declare it.

It's the "new" Health Insurance requirement for the over 50's that is causing the panic.

More worrisome is the permanent deposit of 400k baht for retirees.

No way.

It's for those that apply for a Non Imm O-A visa at a Thai embassy in their country.

Expats are not on a visa but on an extension of stay,  which they apply for at Immigration in country.

You are 12 years in Thailand,  are you on a visa that you apply for each year at a Thai embassy?

No,  you go to Immigration and get an extension extension of stay,  which is not a visa at all.

Read and understand.

davehowden, for your info I give the link in which is explained that the health insurance is for Non Imm O-A visa holders and certainly NOT for holders of an extension of stay.

Highlights:
The new requirements, which were approved by Cabinet in April and announced by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), state that people applying or renewing (or rather re-applying for) a Non-Immigrant Visa OA now need to have health insurance from either a Thai insurance company or from a policy bought overseas.

The requirement for mandatory health insurance appears to only affect those applying for a Non-Immigrant Visa OA.

According to the announcement on the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) website, it does not affect anyone who stays in Thailand on an extension of stay based on retirement, which is often incorrectly referred to as a ‘retirement visa’.

Extensions of stay are not visas. Most retirees who stay in Thailand do so on an ‘extension of stay based on retirement’.

A Non-Immigrant Visa OA can only be applied for at Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate overseas.
