Morning Coffee Times in Siem Reap

One of the things I enjoy is heading out to a coffee shop in the mornings.聽 Alin will give me 20k riel which lasts me a few mornings for the places I go. I really enjoy the smaller places by the river kind of around where Angkor Museum is but toward the river.聽 One place called Time Coffee has become a regular thing for me. The owner is friendly and welcomes everyone. Most people stay long there talking and people watching. Since it's right on the river it's easy to just sit and take in the morning.

The second place I go often is Domo Cafe. Just down the street from the first place. Then there's Street Coffee across the river and right down by what I call the Bridge Market is Noi Cafe. There are a number of Noi Cafes around SR. My favorite one is a two mile walk for me to downtown. Almost at old market, I love the big open windows and the wonderful soft chairs.

More rarely we will go to Temple Coffee and Bakery right by ABA Bank. its more expensive but I love all the old electronic stuff on the inside and its a pretty place too.

Coffee times! Love it.

I will bet聽 the owners love it supplying coffee fir next to nothing and have people taking up chairs for hours but there again there's a reason why expats settle in Cambodia it's the cheap Charlie capital聽 of South East Asia pretty聽 sad when you think about it .

@Pablo joule I don't consider it so sad. What I think is that coffee houses are cultural and social hubs wherever you go. When I lived in Vietnam for years, the coffee house there was a hub for all kinds of people to stop by and enjoy time visiting with neighbors, meeting new people. You should go out and have more coffee. Hahahaha.

Thanks for the friendly, social post about the joys of morning coffee. I'm a cheap Charlie, so I take my Nescafe Red Cup at home every morning with honey and whole milk. Same idea though, to greet the day by getting a positive, energetic coffee buzz going. Of course, going out for an early Joe helps the local small coffeeshop businesses, and that's a win, win any way you slice it, especially if you're slicing pineapples or papayas.

Cheap Charlies are actually pretty happy with the low cost of living in Cambodia and the easy retirement extension for those over 55. Vietnam is perhaps a little bit cheaper, but Cambodia's vibe is better. Many people also prefer it to Thailand for the lack of hassles.

Anyway, everyone has their preferences.

@mpmilestogo I think you missed my point commplely never mind no point聽 me attempting to make it more simple ps I go to star bucks 20000 rial doesn't last long there but I don't mind it keeps cambodian youngsters in work but you probably won't get this either?
