@terrytime I have a Rusi Classic 250i. It is a nice bike but I'm not sure I would ride it on the trip you're contemplating. It is over 900 kilometers which would sensibility require 2 days travel or a full day and night non stop. It may be fun and one of those experiences of a lifetime but only you can make that decision. If you decide to go for it you should have a GoPro with plenty of batteries and a helmet cam. Good luck.

terrytime

Ya I just both the 250i also.

What would go pro do for me?

At this minute I'm watching a YouTube videos

" Manila to Catbalogan RUSI Ride Day 1"

A English guy is talking during ride.

I been in pH since 2015 June in BAGUIO etc

Just getting through manila will be a nightmare unless I go early in morning

terrytime

Thanks's for your input.

GoPro is just a video camera that is popular with YouTubers. I have one mounted on my helmet. They take very clear video recordings but they are expensive to buy. You can buy other brands cheaper or use your cell phone. It would be nice to record some scenes from your 900 plus km road trip, if you decide to ride the bike. I mounted a cell phone holder on my handlebar and tried taking videos with the cell phone but it's no good mounted that way, too much vibration. Then I remembered my wife had a GoPro so I mounted that on my helmet and recorded better videos. Here is a video I recorded with the Gopro on my helmet and riding my Rusi 250i.

I agree you should try to breeze through Manila traffic at the least congested period. It looks like you have a 4 hour ride just to reach Manila so you would have to leave Baguio at around midnight or earlier. I skimmed through the British YouTuber’s day 2 ride and it ended at the ferry. He was recording with a GoPro on his helmet but the camera failed to record the last leg of the journey so the video ended at the ferry terminal.

Last year we had visitors who drove a Fortuner from Manila to our house.in 24 hours, roughly the same distance as your trip would be. Two guys took turns driving and the only break was on the ferry. I couldn’t do that, it would take me 3 days to make that trip.

How do you go with a 250cc bike on an express/toll road? My understanding is 400cc and up.

So old highways and many towns will take much longer? Perhaps I'm wrong.

To the OP (terrytime) we moved all our stuff from Manila, large fridge, washer and dryer, beds and side tables, lounge and other furniture, big screen tv, big sound system, kitchen stuff, clothes and linen to San Fernando city La union some 280 kilometers 11 odd years ago in a 4 ton pantech truck contracted with 3 guys and the driver, arrived at 6 in the morning and loaded all our stuff into the truck from a 7th floor condo, we went in the drivers cab and the 3 workers sweated it out in the back of the truck. We arrived at Bens parents house in the dark and the guys unloaded and left by 9 pm and drove back to Manila,,,,,, long day for them and the total bill including tolls/fuel was P12,500.

FB market place is a good place to look.

Good luck with your move.

Cheers, Steve.

Hire a big truck and put everything in it, including the bike. Last.

terrytime

Thanks

Do you live Samar

terrytime

Yes a few years ago

I'm sure not that price

What do you know about a volcano there in Samar area or where ever it is etc.

Terry

terrytime

@Moon Dog ya lots to consider

I'm going down to check places in the next couple days just to see if I really want to go live there.

@terrytime I'm looking at the lists of 33 or 27 or 25 or 23 active volcanoes in the Philippines. Different sites report different numbers but I don't see any on Samar. I live in the neighboring island of Biliran and we have one that is listed. Mount Biliran had some activity in 1939 but nothing serious.

I live on Negros when I'm there.

The Mayon volcano, at the south end of Luzon - near Legazpi, and north of Samar - has been erupting locally in the past few days, resulting in the evacuation of about 15,000 people locally.. I do not think it will hinder your progress, but you should look at maps as to the proximity to your route, and also monitor the PHIVOLCS site. There are alternate routes in the area that would keep you further away from it but they look quite circuitous (winding).
