Buy British

Enzyte Bob

Today on FB an add popped up saying Buy British, it said Authentic British Groceries.

Since it seems URL's get blocked here, just Google Buy British Philippines.

This has been mentioned before. They have a wide selection but the prices used to be quite high.

I haven't looked this time, so decide for yourselves.

Come to think of it I do recognise this service I saw advertised some time ago.

As a Brit there are two names on the link  that Fred helpfully posted. Waitrose are the poshest supermarket group in the UK and VERY highly rated on customer service. I can vouch for this as it is my local store in Bath UK. A case in point: two years ago I had ordered a Scotch sirloin joint (c 2KG) for xmas at a price of about £60 (US$ 78). You give them the collection date a few days before xmas day. The joint had not come in on the day I was due to collect and they were not sure if it would arrive in time but I can pick anything I like on the fresh beef counter. I said I'll wait until  tomorrow. It arrived the next day. The lady at the collection counter said no charge. I said I don't expect not to pay for it but they insisted.

Marks & Spencer, easily remembered Spence ;) is another class outfit which regularly competes with Waitrose on freshness. They have (or did) have a store in Makati as I shopped there once.

Due to the distances involved I imagine the service will be pricier than Shopee or Lasada but will give you access to specialist British & continental produce like cheeses and salami etc that you will never find in the Philippines. Their pre-prepared meals ( I believe our American friends use the term 'TV dinners') are to die for. Reassuringly expensive.

Buy British, French, American, Aussie or Filipino? I live here in the Philippines, still alive with the local availability and a very happy camper. Sure I miss Aussie lamb and beef, the best in the world but the trade off is the seafood here is so cheap as are veggies etc. etc. Thing is why live here if you are not happy with the local choices? My world travels I ate the local foods as I do here. Going to Hong Kong next week and looking forward to the next culinary delights on offer.

Cheers, Steve.

@bigpearl

Hope you have a great time in Hong Kong. I was there just under a year ago for a dew days and loved the place, food and people. I stayed Kowloon side and loved walking down by the bay.

Thanks Cherry, just the proverbial visa run but we'll spend a week there looking and traveling around, we have booked a week near walk street and after 3 years since Singapore for the same gig instead of layovers was time to get our hands dirty and see what the fuss is about. I believe the food alone will be worth it, time will tell.

Cheers, Steve.
