FYI : regarding transfer stamp from old US Passport to new one.

Just renewed my US Passport. When i tried to get a 2 month tourist visa extension i was refused by the BI office in CDO.聽 by the office supervisor. Reason being they said because my entry stamp in my old passport had to be transferred to my new Passport and that only can be done in Manila at the main BI office.聽 I was renewing my visas online with BI but when i entered my new passport # it was rejected because BI did not accept. So off to Manila from CDO next week to get my entry stamp entered into my new Passport. I will also have to pay a late fee penalty because my tourist visa has expired. Between air fare, hotel, taxis, etc. i figure this will cost me probably 300.00 dollars plus BI fees and 2 month extension. Just thought other expats might want to have a heads up.聽

That's sad to hear Scott. You don't hold your old cancelled passport? Proof?

Enjoy Manila.

Cheers, Steve.

聽 聽 -@bigpearl聽 聽Hello Steve, Yes i presented both new and old passports but BI still said it did not matter. 10 years ago i kept both passports together and had no problem but i guess BI laws聽 continues to change . I also believe BI wants more control from Manila and has cut back on their satellite offices ability to offer more services around the country .Cant get more than a 2 month tourist visa renewed from the CDO office.

Same here in La Union Scott, 2 months but as posted in other threads gets me out of the house a bit more.

I just read Marks post on BI opening new offices and moving others, will see if they also move my office as it sits on a large chunk of commercial land.

Cheers, Steve.

I am in the Philippines on a permanent resident visa.聽 Indeed, BI will no longer accept your old passport with the entry stamp and visa in them.聽 You must get them transferred.聽 To save the hassle I used JRC in Cebu City.聽 It isn't cheap but worth not having to do all the paperwork and travel expenses not to mention time, to go to BI in Manila.聽 Their cost was 25,000 php for both the entry stamp and visa.
