New members of the Singapore forum, introduce yourself here — 2017

Hello,

I am moving to Singapore next week. I need to get a bank account, what banks do people like? I have generally heard DBS is a well-liked local bank with an expat account, NETS and lots of ATMs (although not one of the ATM5). I have also looked at HSBC, Standard Charter, Citibank, UOB and OCBC. Any recommendations? Particularly with foreign wire transaction fees.

Thank you!
Welcome to Singapore. Your profile shows you are an American. If this information is correct then check how much Citi bank charges in compare to local banks here (DBS, UOB & OCBC). For local transactions, obviously local banks are much easier as you will get ATMs every where in Singapore. But for remittances, specially sending money to USA or out side Asia, you need to check in each bank’s website and their remittance fee and any other charges.
