Buying property on Koh Samui–What should foreigners pay attention to?

Hello everyone,


I have been involved with property projects on Koh Samui for quite some time and regularly speak with people who are interested in buying a house or villa in Thailand.


One thing I notice very often is that many buyers focus mainly on the purchase price. In reality, other factors are usually much more important:


• Location and accessibility

• Leasehold vs. ownership structure

• Construction quality

• Rental potential

• Property management

• Long-term maintenance costs


In my experience, two villas with a similar price can perform completely differently over time depending on these factors.
