It doesnt mean you can fly here in July.All depends what the Thai authorities decide at a later date.They may extend the ban or not.Who knows?

right now nobody knows exactly what it will be starting at the first of july.
Maybe tourists need to be in quarantine for 2 weeks.
Better wait till the last week of june.
I stay here in Thailand and i can tell you this, its not funny at all anymore.
Checking, going into the malls, now also signing in , signing out at the malls even聽 at 7/11.
the curfew ends at july, not even sure of that.
So dont expect too much.

Thailand plans to be open to international flights. But it is not sure whether they will limit聽 which countries will be allowed to fly into Thailand.

Fair enough but look at New Zealand.聽 Total lockdown for 4 weeks聽 partial lockdown for another 4 weeks., now the country is completely clear of the virus and life is back to normal with no more covid concerns. Except for not allowing foreigners into the country,聽 which, tourism aside聽 is not considered to be a bad thing.

New Zealand is not a good comparsion in this case! New Zealand has always been a very closed type society! You can visit but if you live there you will spend years trying to be accepted! Only two population areas and easy to keep track of people as they have an awesome Immigration system! It is off the beaten path so to speak!

Some generalizations there mate. The fact is that a number of countries with the same population (Ireland,聽 Kuwait,聽 Denmark and more) all had the same opportunity to react,聽 close borders and lock down. They didn't,聽 and all have had significant infection rates and deaths, and have ongoing cases every day. New Zealand did, and we are now living the dream.聽 My problem? I had planned to retire in Cambodia,聽 after a 2 month holiday on the beach in Ao Nang, and had planned to visit friends in Saigon.聽 And that's not going to happen soon.

Currently, Thailand only accepted Thai citizen and some special special case to fly in Thailand. However, Thailand is considering to open border for foreigners to fly in Thailand soon but at the early phase it will limit to some groups of activities. The first groups would include embassy staffs, movie producers, people joining business trade shows held in Thailand, people buying medical and wellness package in Thailand, Thailand Elite Card holder. So if your objectives differ from above, you might need to wait for the next phase.

I agree. It also depends on the country where you'll be coming from. Currently staying in Thailand and have booked our hotels and ferry tickets through PhuketFerry. The advantage is that the prices have incredibly dropped at this time. Hopefully, the travel situation will be different in October. Can't wait.

Will travellers have Insurance....??聽 聽Very difficult to get & expensive if you can.聽 聽The media is full of stories of stranded broke travellers overseas.聽 It gives a country a bad name. These people have no money , no insurance (not valid under COVID) and are applying for charity .聽 It鈥檚 a joke.

That鈥檚 just a few issues for starters.....besides , Australia is a large percentage of Thailand tourism and there鈥檚 NO hope in hell they鈥檒l be letting anyone go to Thailand without being successfully vaccinated & carrying valid Insurance cover for anything COVID related.

I wouldn鈥檛 want to be hanging by the balls waiting for an avalanche of tourists hitting Thailand.

However , if they let the Chinese in......with or without a snake oil vaccine, and an outbreak happens in big numbers .......it鈥檚 game over for Thai tourism.

I think you are wrong about insurance.聽 Most insurance companies have worked out that, with a 20 in a 100,000 chance of anyone catching the virus the risks are low. And due to the fact that most countries are insisting on travelers being insured (who previously would not bother getting covered) there is money to be made.聽 I can name at least 4 insurance companies that will provide Covid cover for around $100 a month.聽 Ok still not exactly cheap but it buys you a entry visa.

I鈥檝e seen quotes from different聽 mobs ranging from $150 to $400 month.聽 聽 But the devil is in the fine print.

The problem isn鈥檛 so much medical costs in relation to the Virus,,it鈥檚 the cancellations, lockdowns etc that leave people stranded in countries with limited resources to get home when flights are limited.

There鈥檚 Aussies facing $15,000 business class flights & $3000 quarantine fees just to get home.
The airlines聽 cover their costs by charging those increased costs.聽 Countries are limiting the arrivals from overseas because of health & suitable quarantine facilities, so the planes are near empty & charge 鈥渙vers鈥� because of it.

There鈥檚 many people that have had holidays cancelled & can鈥檛 get refunds.聽 One Aussie couple in the news today are chasing $57,000 on an extensive European holiday that鈥檚 gone belly up.聽 Travel insurance won鈥檛 cover

It鈥檚 not so much the health side of it,,,,it鈥檚 the cancellations & the costs in being stranded.

The excess/deductible on some of those policies was ridiculous.馃槅

I鈥檓 already in SE Asia , won鈥檛 leave unless I have to , but I鈥檝e got Aussie friends with family here that are waiting to come back .....they鈥檝e been told July 2021 at the earliest , and with a Vaccine in place.

Without a vaccine ,,,I can鈥檛 see things moving at all.聽 聽Not good mate.

Unless it鈥檚 for essential family repatriation or business , the planes will be empty since I doubt tourists would be聽 stupid enough to Jump thru the hoops , masks, quarantine, health certificates, Insurance & Increased Airfares just to sit on a beach at Phuket (quarantine island) & drink cheap piss for a week.聽

An old bloke back there at the moment I doubt will pass a 鈥淔it to Fly medical鈥� . It鈥檚 not a C19 test.
He鈥檚 in dicey condition, chain smoking alcoholic sweating on getting back here for the cheap 50 cents beers & $1 pack cigarettes in Vietnam.聽

There鈥檚 also rumours that departing tourists will have to 鈥淧re Pay 鈥渢he $3000 Aussie quarantine on return should the vaccine not come.聽 聽

Lots of hurdles to jump yet before things resume, and this region is the destination of choice for budget travellers.聽 聽AirAsia is the big LCC in the region.....it鈥檚 reported they鈥檙e insolvent.聽 Their share price crashed 80% BEFORE the Virus hit due to cash flow revenue falling .......it鈥檚 pretty sick now.

The days of cheap Asian holidays could be a memory.
