It is FPT telecommuication company or Mobile phone, Viettel.
If you need more adviser, let tell me.
Kev
For ipad 3G, u should try Viettel or Vinaphone
I'm using Mobifone and I think it's the best ^^
The second is Vinafone provider
Thank you all for your advice. John
There is no best provider in Vietnam actually. the most popular I would think is:-

Mobifone - Very Popular
Viettel - If you have Blackberry

For iPads, if you bring it into Vitenam, bring it to any "authorised" iPhone shop and they will "jail-break" for you.I would recommend using Mobiphone as it would be the most popular.
Thanks Reaper.
mobile phone is聽 very good and good services. :)
welcome to vietnam!
Mobifone is the best only in big cities, if you don't want to have troubles when travelling somewhere else around Vietnam, use Vinaphone. It works well anywhere.
Note: DO NOT USE VIETTEL IF YOU HAVE BLACKBERRY.it's too expensive fee but no need. U can use free wifi almost everywhere or 3G service to use emal if needed.
Will be in HCMC in a month. Plan to start an ADSL service so that Mom, who's 90-something, can have video phone calls with her children overseas using ipad and Skype. Would much appreciate any advice and/or shared experience. Is the audio/video quality decent with the existing ADSL speeds?
I'm using Vina Phone for my 3G on iPad and it works a treat for communicating back home on Skype. Regards. John

The quality depends on the speaker.

As for DSL services, yes, they are pretty good. If take a 2 mBit Line in VN, you have chances, to have a higher speed as with an (up to:) 8 mBit line in your home country.

JHONEM & 13ully: thanks for the comments. Looking at the various ADSL plans in HCMC, I notice most if not all list a max speed that exceeds Skype's minimum requirement of 512kbps. However, some also disclose a "guaranteed minimum speed" of 256kbps. Peak hours effects?

YES,

I holding several 2 bit lines on various locations. None of them is or was ( I am excluding obvious outages, where a truck did tear our line apart and similar), we never came ever "close" to our speeds and having almost always 50% more, than we are paying for.

You will however have to consider, before you order, where you are living and who will/can be your supplier.
On many places, you will have the choice, the landlord offers you. That's it, or you choose of the 3G plans.
