Buying Tour-Motorbike HCMC->Hanoi

Hey guys!

I am going to ride from HCMC to Hanoi in August and am looking for a proper motorbike to this trip with.
I guess a used tour bike or an enduro bike would be optimal, but I am open to any suggestions as to which ones are the best, most comfortable for a long ride and importantly safe as well!
Also if you know someone who is selling one just drop a line.

Cheers!
Daniel

Hi and welcome to the forum Daniel!

I would suggest you to post an advert in the Buy & Sell section of HCMC classifieds.
It might help!

Regards
Armand
Thanks will do, but I am also looking for advice on where to buy, what to look for, what motorbikes to look at etc.. :)
Daniel,
plenty of people do what you're looking for and you can pick some bargains up when you get here. Lots of them with full kit others with nothing.
Give yourself a couple of days to find your feet in hcmc and you will soon see the bikes around the backpacker area that are available. Just be smart and get someone to look the bike over if 测辞耻聮谤别 not mechanically minded to spot any defects.
Get a honda or a minsk and 测辞耻聮谤别 good to go as plenty of spares available through out the country. Unless 测辞耻聮谤别 going off roading you won't need anything too fancy.

There are a couple of companies that will rent you one and collect it at the other end but I don't know anyone who has used them so can't compare prices.
Cool Thanks a lot man!!

Do you reckon the weather is too rainy to do the trip in august? or is it different throughout the country? are roads good enough to drive during rain (1A and HoChiMinhTrail) ?
Hi Daniel,
In HCM, it often rains a lot in August but in Hanoi, it's the opposite. But the weather is kind of weird these days, so I'm not sure.
About driving during the rain, I think it's quite dangerous here.
Hey Laidbackfreak,
I just sent you a private mail from here.

Hey Daniel, as jollyPham said the weather here is kinda weird at the moment.
August is officially the wettest month with plenty of rain down south. If its a complete downpour you're not gonna want to ride in it anyways. You can barely see 50 feet and the road will probably be a river :) Luckily the rain comes n goes pretty fast, unless it's set in for the day.
Far easier and safer just to pull over and wait till it passes.
Showers\light rain well long as you have some good waterproofs your ok. Just ride slower and according to the conditions you should be fine.
Hi Danbone,
My friend have an used motorbike and she would like to sell it. If you are still interested, drop me a line I will ask for the details.
