What to Rent?

Alright I've been looking at multiple places, D2, D7, Binh Chanh, and I like them all because they're not quite as loud and as hectic as the more central districts, however for work it would make more sense to be central, so I've started looking in Phu Nhuan, now I have several options to choose from, I could go for a serviced apartment, or a regular apartment and hire my own maid, or my family has a building in the district that was recently completed, each floor is its own apartment and I could move into the top floor, however I'm related to everyone in the building, and I'm not sure if I want to live like that, being looked in on by relatives all the time, so which should I settle for, a serviced apartment, a regular apartment, or the family penthouse? Also some places include electric, gas, water, and internet while others do not, so what would the average cost of those bills be for a single person?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I do see what you mean, if I can be convinced that my quite honestly very prying family can give me some peace I'd probably move in there or perhaps I could try it for a few months to see how it fits.
I'll rent the penthouse.聽 Let me know how much :)
I've never actually seen it, I'm going tomorrow, I'll take some pics and post them, my options right now are the penthouse or a serviced apartment I found, which has a rooftop garden, bbq, small gym, and a 3 day a week cleaning service and 24/7 security.
I'm at The Vista D2. Right now.聽 Where ur place?
It's all depends on your mentality聽 :)
If I were you, surely I choose a nice house with family.
Of course you cannot do a wrong move when you stay with family. I don't know we can call that 'privacy'.
Staying with family is safe and happy. Nobody can understand our problems like our family member.聽 'Girl friend' is not considered as family member in it's broad sense聽 :)
When we live with family we can eat good food. Sharing with family is not a burden.

I'm not sure but apparently Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ate nearby? I'll know when I see it tomorrow. I think you should stay at the Vista though, our place is just a building, no services no amenities just a flat on a pretty quiet street, apparently the home next door has a private security detail. I also learned that only one of the units is occupied, my other relatives are apparently traveling and the only ones staying are a distant cousin and his new wife but one of my "aunts"(I think she's my mom's cousin) wants the penthouse, and is willing to pay more and to help me pay for my cost of living for the privilege so I'll be taking hers instead, I don't know I guess she thinks when she comes home from France a 27 year old living upstairs will be too loud for her?
Ok I saw the place earlier today and it's fine, but now I have two options to choose from, the 2nd highest apartment which is a 2 bed 1 bath, with a kitchen and open living space, or the ground floor apartment with 1 bed 1 bath, small kitchenette with an enclosed living space for $100 less?

I don't mean to be rude, but why would you let a group of perfect strangers decide where you're going to live? I mean, we're all here for advice but this is a bit ridiculous.
Because he loves us and cares what we think.聽 :lol:

It's not rude, but nor am I letting them decide for me, this would typically be something I'd ask of my friends, but they're all back home and like me, know nothing about what it's like in HCMC, I don't get things just because they're nice and pretty, I like to be practical and sometimes to do that you need to distance yourself and ask others for their take, sometimes when you're too close to a problem, it's more difficult for you to solve.

I get it, you want a second opinion from an outsider.
@Mia2013

Yes, I mean the final decision of course has always rested with me, but I'm not arrogant enough to think that I know all there is to know about this city or its real estate. I find that asking people for their advice and input is a more responsible way of choosing where to live instead of just going, "Ooooooh that's shiny!"
