How to find work in the Bahamas from abroad
I am currently living in France but looking very seriously at the possibility of going to live in the Bahamas. I have checked out various job sites but can't seem to find many available positions.
Is it realistic for me to believe I can find work from Europe or do I need to move over and then look?
cheers
Eric

Depending on what you do for a living it is very difficult to find the jobs that you will be permitted to do advertised on a blog or internet advert.聽
The employment rules for the Bahamas states that any area of work that cannot be performed by an equally qualified Bahamian could then be advertised externally.
Please let me know what you do and perhaps send a CV (resume)over on e-mail and I will attempt to get it circulated in the right channels for you. In the mean time please visit our site.
I've been a children's librarian in Orlando, Fl for over 15 years and have a master's degree in library science.聽 Is it possible for me to find similar employment in the Bahamas?聽 If so, how do I begin the process?
Thanks so much!

May I suggest that you first write to the Ministry of Education in the Bahamas sending a copy of your resume and a cover letter stating your interest.聽 If you wrote to the Minister himself and sent a copy to the Permanent Secretary they will be able to advise you on the correct course of action from a governmental point of view. their details are as follows.

It might also pay for you to look into the private sector. I know that the Private Schools advertise for expat teachers and resource providers the rough the Times Ed in the UK perhaps going to their website and expressing your interest there might bring a result.
聽 聽 I am interested in finding out about possible employment in the Bahama's as well.
聽 聽 I realize it is very difficult as a non Bahamanian individual聽 but if anyone has any avenues I should pursue I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Ed
I do apologise for the delay in getting back to you on this one, I have been recently hospitalised with the dreaded H1N1 virus here in The UK which was quite serious.聽
Don't worry I'm a lot better now, just really glad to be back at my desk as a lot of people with my underlying medical conditions have not survived it.
Anyways - always glad to be of help to anyone wanting to come over to be a part of our ex pat community in the Islands. If done correctly the lifestyle is second to none and you gain a greated appreciation of life when you live to a quieter pace.
Please send me your details and I will see if I can help by sign posting you to the relevant contacts.

"Me too"!
I am having trouble locating legitimate on-line resources for job searching in the Bahamas, all my searches turn up are advertisements or scams, and never any actual content.
I'd also like to know whether there is something like the equivalent of the "countryside", any area further away from tourists?
Thanks!

聽 聽 we are a family of four (English) and are seriously thinking of living in the Bahamas (Andros Island )
聽 聽Would it be possible for us to set up our own business .
we will be buying a house there and would like to run it as a bed and breakfast , therapy centre.
聽 聽WE would also like to know how difficult it would be to find local people to help us to run the business.
聽 聽Could you tell us what the schooling situation is on Andros our 2 boys are 4 and 6 years old the eldest is blind .
聽 聽Many thanks for your time .

My name is Erica and I am currently living in Las Vegas, NV. I am looking into moving to the Bahamas by the end of the year. My mother would be joining me from Chicago. She is a nurse and I am an Accounting Manager with the Palms Hotel and Resort. I wanted to know what are the realistic chances of finding employment in either field? Is there a chance that we will find employment in any field she and I are qualified for?
Thank you for your time and I am happy to see you are doing better,
Erica

uhmm, not much culture there, not many libraries and definitely, not the size you might have on your head...
I am leaving the Bahamas soon and, unless you want to work for a bank, the country is sinking... many killings, many crime... definetly you do not want to go there. Average grade for students is a D or D-...

Any advice on job prospects please?
Much appreciated.
Thanks
What would a US citizen say about my chances of getting employment in the US? All countries are getting less enthusiastic about immigrants.
In the Bahamas there are businesses that are protected for Bahamians and there are reserved jobs. These seem to change especially with the increasingly xenophobic atmosphere that seems to be being fostered by the administration in the Bahamas. There seems to be a lack of understanding that foreigners can bring a lot of experience to this place but unfortunately many of the locals think that they know it all already!

I am from south africa and i am looking for a job in the bahamas. im currently working in the south african navy and i am doing IT.
Is there any jobs for me? and how do i get to move and stay there?
If you would like to find work here, you would need to provide information of your skills perhaps a resume , or C.V. then we could look into it. In order to work here a work permit must be issued and this can be lenghty perhaps 6-8 months prior to employment. But it all depends on the criteria of work that you may be interested in. It also helps to visit before hand.
If you send me a resume I can try help locate some work for you.
