No but I have an excellent person in Santiago who has done ours as well as most of our friends, and our clients.聽 She speaks perfect English and will hold your had through the entire process.聽 She is also very quick (faster than most) and very reasonable.聽 If you want her contact info let me know

Everything that is involved in filing for residencia聽 happens in Santo Domingo, you file,聽 get a medical check (give blood samples) and a chest xray.聽 聽So no matter where you are going to live,聽 聽you will be visiting Santo Domingo!聽

Bob's lawyer is excellent ( as I understand ) and I have one in Santo Domingo as well,聽 he is American /聽 Dominican speaks English and Spanish.聽

BOB - lets post both lawyers here so everyone has their contact info!

Thank you guys!
As always excellent useful information!
You are very welcome.
Our friend from Sweden applied at the Dominican embassy in Sweden and finished the rest in Santo Domingo by herself, no lawyer. She just took a friend that spoke Spanish. She said it was easy and very cheap. So if you speak Spanish or have somebody that does, you don't need a lawyer.

Personally聽 I do not recommend it unless you have lots of experience here and like waiting in lines.
Thank you Demi56,
In fact I have dominican friends in Santo Domingo, maybe they could help me with that.
I'll check if that's suitable.
6. Migracion publishes new extended stay fees
For non-resident tourist cardholders, the fee for staying from 61 to 90 days is now RD$2,500.

If a visitor wishes to extend their stay from three to nine months, they pay RD$4,000. To stay for a year, the fee is RD$5,000.
Tomas that was reported honey. Its a page back......
Yes. I knew that!
I was just taking up space! Hey, that Greg is a fantastic writer!
In today's electronic world, he could write from his barrio!
Yup!!!
I do enjoy it

We have been hearing,聽 and reading that the tourist visa has officially been changed from 30 to 60 days....start paying overstay on the 61st day.
Any truth, or based on rumor, or wishful thinking?
Thanks!
Donna and Ken
It is true.聽 The tourist card (visa) is now good for 60 days.

Bob k
I verified this at Migracion.聽 60 days.
Yes it has been posted on the Government site for the last week or more

Oh, here we go again!
I read somewhere you could get a 90 day thingy.
See you are reading those damn comic books again :D:D:D

Bob K
Actually if you have聽 a thingy and it is hard for more than 4 hours, not 90 days you are supposed to call you doctor :D:D:D:D:D

Haven't found those 600mg blue ones yet!
I;m sure I read it in 1 of the 3 news reports I get.

Thanks for reposting the fee schedule.聽 And yes people need to realize the fee is calculated to the day you land here if you are over the 30 tourist visa, and not from day 31 after your tourist visa/card expires.

Bob K.

Still don't understand it that well.If the fee starts 30 days after one lands, then is the 90 days聽 the same and the next category is from 91 days after one gets here? And what does anyone know about crossing into Haiti?聽 In Central AMerica a "Visa run" requires one to be on the other side of the border for 72 hours. Any one know about this aspect of things?

When was this change made? I arrove on August 3rd this year this time.SO am I legal until Nov2?聽 Thanks聽 Deryl

The changes came about in the last couple of weeks.
The new schedule is:
CP-PP-01-01聽 聽61 D脥AS A 90 D脥AS 2,500.00
CP-PP-01-02聽 聽 3 A 9 MESES 4,000.00
CP-PP-01-03聽 聽 9 A 12 MESES 5,000.00
CP-PP-01-04聽 聽 12 A 18 MESES 6,500.00
CP-PP-01-05聽 聽 18 A 24 MESES 8,000.00
CP-PP-01-06聽 聽 24 A 30 MESES 9,500.00
CP-PP-01-07聽 聽 30 A 36 MESES 11,000.00
CP-PP-01-08聽 聽 36 A 48 MESES 16,000.00
CP-PP-01-09聽 聽 48 A 60 MESES 20,000.00
CP-PP-01-10聽 聽 6 A脩OS 30,000.00
CP-PP-01-11聽 聽 7 A脩OS 40,000.00
CP-PP-01-12聽 聽 8 A脩OS 50,000.00
CP-PP-01-13聽 聽 9 A脩OS 60,000.00
CP-PP-01-14聽 聽 10 A脩OS 70,000.00

So now if over 61 days it is as above.

IF you stay 1 day over then the fine is calculated from聽 the very first day of your trip not from the first day of your overstay.

You arrived August 3rd,聽 聽start聽 counting from that day.聽 get to day 61 and apply the fine as above 2,500. Get to day聽 91 and it goes to 4,000.

You only need to leave and re enter. BUT I would not consider Haiti for small overstay fines - it costs US 60 to leave Haiti! (that may have gone up)
I was wondering, I will be staying 74 days in Sosua.聽 Do I need to get a tourist card?聽 Also, what about if I come back for another 2 or 3 months before the year end.聽 What do I need to do if anything?聽 聽 Thanks.
You always need a tourist card.聽 As of now no issues coming back. Be prepared to pay the overstay fine.
No matter where you stay, you need a tourist card. It applies for each visit, so when you come back next time, you will pay again. It does not matter how many times a year you come and go.

Above is correct.聽 I actually left on a 7 day cruise 2 years ago leaving from Santo Domingo and arriving a week later back in Santo Domingo

Everyone (non residents) needed to pay overstay fees if applicable as well as a new tourist card when we got back to port

Will I need to pay overstay for 74 days or am I ok up to 90 days or is it 60 days?聽 If so, I guess the amount I will need to pay is 2500 pesos.
Overstay calculates from day 1.
Can I do something before I enter DR not to have to pay the 2500 pesos?
Do they only take payment in pesos when leaving? Since they only take US dollars when arriving? And it must be Cash no credit cards correct?
Pay on leaving US dollars or pesos, no credit cards as far as I know.
Thanks!
You are very welcome
Yes 2500 is right. I have heard that they pulled in back to 30 days instead of the sixty it was at for a while.聽 Have no personal knowledge,, but either way it is the same for you. WHen getting off the plane is when you buy the tourist card unless it is included in the price of your ticket.
I alway buy the card online and print it saves a long line at The airport.
Actually DingoElGringo is right, it's back to 30 days now, the latest fee schedule on their website says
CP-PP-01-01聽 聽 31 D脥AS A 90 D脥AS聽 聽 2,500.00
CP-PP-01-02聽 聽 3 A 9 MESES聽 聽 4,000.00
