HI Priscilla,
I've lived here full time now for the past 3 years and prior to the move visited at least a few times a year over an 8 year span...聽 I came here with a very open mind and was set and prepared for "island time" way of life and some of the other cultural differences between living here vs Denver, CO ( where I moved from), but if there was something I wish I would have known a bit more about聽 prior to moving .. I would have to say it would be the driving style...that took a minute to get use to but now I find it hard to transition whenever I do visit friends back in the states as I have to say I drive more like a local here now haha..聽 聽The most important thing I think you need to know is to remember that although there are many similarities between PR and mainland USA, PR has its own style and way of life. I think for the first year I wasted a lot of time and energy wanting explanations on things that didn't make since in my mind...when in reality they made ( and still make) perfect since to the locals here.聽 I think its important to have a tremendous amount of patience while living here as well.聽 You will find that if you are open to change, are very patient聽 and have a since of humility that it is easy to adapt to everyday life here and you will be able to fully value and appreciate all of the wonderful things PR has to offer.聽 聽If you are planning a move here, I think it is wish to visit often before moving, find a place here that "feels like home"to you and then make that the spot you visit often and get to know some of the locals in the area聽 as they will become one of your biggest assets in your adjustment period.聽 I wish you much success in in your future聽 transition to PR!!
