Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what happens if you would have to leave the country to move somewhere else during the process?

Hi,

you can "move", but the only way Belgium will confirm the nationality change request, is by post in the REGISTERED address in belgium.

It may be possible at the end, but you will find yourself in a swirl of issues with the administration to finalize the procedure.

Hi, this piece of information for sure helsp already. Im trying to find something in the law but I cannot find and I dont want to ask the commune because Im scared this will influence their decision

@vaibrasil You should wait until your nationality has been approved. If you move out you have to de-register which means those processing your nationality will find out聽

@masstonsils0e

hi thanks,

but what if I would still remain registered? I guess that does not change, it would just imply on my taxes etc after

@vaibrasil

If you remain registered it should be ok (I've seen it in practice), as long as the outcome is positive. If the outcome is negative, you may need to reapply or appeal the decision and this may take a couple of years. A couple of things to consider.

It depends on how long you leave for surely?

Wait until you have the nationality then you can live anywhere in the EU without any problems. If you want to move now, you will still need a visa and you will need to know the language of the country you are moving to and take a language exam.
