Self-employed

Lena Sandras

Hello lifers,

4 months ago, I started as a self-employed in Belgium
I applied for a professional card and got a positive response. Based on this response, I started to work, signed a contract and got my residence card in Belgium

After 4 months, I receive another negative decison for a professional card stating that the first decision was an adminstrative error

I searched a lot for a lawyer, but all of them think of a huge money to receive from me

What is your suggestion? Who will pay for the moral and financial damage?
Thanks

Hi,

I'm sorry for you but Do not try to sue the Belgian state, you will lose...

Lena Sandras

Thanks. It is so disappointing... Many friends think so...
May I appeal for a compensation? And what to expect?

phipiemar

Expect nothing at all...

And to sue them, you will have to invest a lot of money over several years with no guarantee of success.

What about making a complaint without a lawyer? I mean, years are not a problem, but the money the lawyers demand really shocks...

You can appeal but I would I wouldn't hold my breath. Yes, lawyers do charge a lot, they do everywhere in the world.

Lena Sandras

Thanks! I will do my best of what I can... We will see...The chance is minimal...
