question on absence time while waiting for MEU2

Hi,
my wife applied for MEU2 in Jan (she is non EU), but still waiting (I am on MEU3 for EU citizens).
On the paper receipt for MEU2 - it is stated that she can't be absent more than 3 months.

Does someone has the experience with this? We have been travelling since the beggining of the year (so she was absent in total around 2 months), and will travel more.

Do the police at the airport check and calculate those days?
are those days calculated on annual basis or since the absence since the last exit?
any insight would be highly appreciated,
thanks

Why did she not apply for meu1 as a family member of an Eu national -I assume you are married
hi,
yes we are married. MEU1 is for family member who are EU citizens. MEU2 is for the family members who are not EU citizens.
Sorry I disagree...... as a family member of an Eu national they must treat you the same
hi Toon,
this is the legislation in聽 Cyprus.
In any case, they had a massive delay in processing the residence cards, so my wife is travelling only with the receipt of submission for residence card (ARC receipt) - where it says "valid for re-entry in Cyprus provided that the holder didn't spent more than 3 months abroad"

Has anyone been in the same situation before? do they count those 3 months during the year, or since the application for the card has been made? or since you have left the country?

any insight highly appreciated !
thanks
"absence of 3 months"聽 i suspect you must not be absent from Cyprus for more than three months at a time...
However I think you would be right to be careful on this point - as i know there are conditions on absence with an meu1 and meu3 - -meu 1 absence must not be more than 6 months in a year and with meu3 you can be absent for upto 5 years..聽 And exceeeding these periods can lead to automatic revocation of the permit

I know it maybe unlikely to happen to an EU national as the authorities are quite lax on the rules for them but Non-EU nationals they may take a harsher view....聽 good luck
ok, thank you!
cheers
