Danish Health care for cancer patient

Hi,

I am looking to find an IT job abroad and one of the countries I am considering is DK. The problem is that my husband is diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer, we have a 2 yrs old son and I wouldn't consider moving without them. Does anybody know, if I take the job, will they also be insurred?聽 Will my husband receive the treatment he needs (chemotherapy, maybe surgery) as part of the insurance or we will have to pay?

Thank you for any info on this!

If you are all EU-citizens, you can bring with you your husband and son if you earn enough to support them.

It is Statsforvaltningen which administrates this issue.

If you meet the requirements, you and your family will have the right to free health care.

Best wishes for you and your family
Nellie
Thank you so much for the info!
I will go through what you suggested and see if it is for us or not.

Have a great day!
You really have to take into account all aspects so it won't be any easy decision.

I wish you the very best,
Nellie
It is, Nellie, indeed. But since my husband's life is at stake and the future of my child, I will do whatever necessary. This of course after being very well informed. So thank you for taking your time to help!
Hi,

I have now come closer to a job offer. It will be in Ballerup, so if I take It, I will have to stay somewhere near, max 45 minutes to work. Do you have any suggestion for the cities I should look into, with lower cost of living? Will 40000 dkk before taxes be enough for our family if it will be only my salary? We plan to cook as much at home but would also like to visit surroundings in weekends and maybe eat out once/two times a month.

Thank you for any thought!

Expat health insurance

Specialists in international health insurance for 40 years, offering health cover adapted to your needs as an expatriate, whether for a temporary stay or a long-term expatriation.

30+ years' experience in providing global health insurance across more than 200 countries. Over 1.65 million hospitals, clinics, physicians and specialists worldwide covered.

If we take that you settle down in Ballerup municipality, and your and your husband's only income is your pay, the tax will amount to 161.199,90 if the income is 480,000 kroner. If the income is 500,000 kroner, the tax will be 169.727,50 kroner.

I take that the pay is 40,000 kroner a month, but you'll also be entitled to a holiday allowance. 1 % of the pay. What about pension contribution?

You shall expect to pay at least 10,000 kroner a month in rent plus utilities. Expect 2,000 kroner for that purpose.

Child allowance will not come automatically wo you have to apply for that. It's tax free.

You and your family will be able to live for your pay. Depending on your education and experience the pay is ok. However, I would have expected a higher pay as you are an IT expert.

Finding a housing isn't the easiest thing in the world so I would ask the employer for help.
