Working offshore in NL, living in the UK

Wondering if anyone can advise, what tax *if any, I would need to pay in the UK.

I have a work permit, for working offshore in Dutch waters, through a Dutch company. I will be doing around 147 days (maybe a few more) offshore.

I have signed up for the 30% ruling. think its called ETK.

I am wondering what tax I will have to pay in the UK, as I will still be living there, can anyone advise?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You will be assessed for tax based on where you are deemed as being resident.聽 If you live in the UK, you will be assessed by HMRC on your world-wide income.聽 The Dutch may also charge taxes as their tax structure is different to the UK, for example Dutch social taxes, but there is a tax treaty in place between UK/NL which will ensure you don't pay taxes twice for the same income, but I know that the Dutch social taxes fall outside any treaty.

My advice is to speak to a tax advisor.

I worked in the Norwegian sector off Stavanger as well as offshore Bergen and Kristiansund in my petroleum geology days. Later I worked offshore Montpelier in France and offshore Catalonia in Spain. I only ever paid UK taxes. I'd also check with a tax advisor or your company if you are not a consultant.
