Taxation of foreign pensions

I am thinking of moving to ROI as I have an ROI passport although I am from Australia.聽 I receive an age pension from Australia and need to know if I will pay tax on it in Ireland.聽 My pension is not taxed in Australia as it is a social security pension.聽 I have read that such pensions are NOT taxed in Ireland if they were not taxed in the country of origin, Australia.聽 I have also read that I do not pay USC on foreign pensions.聽 Is that correct?

In general you need to ask revenue.ie to get a proper answer.

If you contributed into your pension with untaxed money, you may have to pay taxes when you get the money out of it.

If you contributed with taxed money, and you withdraw your savings, it should be tax free.

The dividends, interest, and capital gains in the pension account - might be subject to taxation.
