As proof of income for your visa, it seems to me that your annual tax return and some bank statements are enough.

It's really just the proof of income I think I need advise on and my specific situation with the lettings being jointed with my Brother.

Perhaps I'll get my Brother to sign a declaration confirming the split since his name is on both the Tenancy Agreements and the Bank Statement's.

Be great to hear from other people who have applied based on (passive) lettings income.

In case of rentals in Portugal: if a rent receipt is issued with 50% for each of the 2 beneficiaries, this is automatically reflected in the annual tax return.

I think this happens also in the UK.

Bringing a statement from your brother is of no use unless that signature is notarised. If your tax return reflects that income, and if your total income meets the minimum requirements for the D7 visa, so it doesn't matter to the SEF whether you receive 50%, 10% or 100% of the rent from your property. What matters is the final value of your annual income...

Hi, If any help, i took in everything I had regarding my properties and highlighted on my bank statement, colour coded ha, to each property. Same for my Portuguese house and they took everything I had. So for you just cover all bases is my opinion.

Plus, I am still waiting in the UK for my visa and had my interview in September at Manchester.

I need to clarify the, the purpose of the visa as stated on the Portuguese Embassy website is "Residency visa for retirement purposes, religious purposes or for people living out of individual revenue." What does this mean; 'people living out of individual revenue'?

I think maybe two out of the three stated purposes may apply to me since I'm retired from my full time occupation and I'm living off my own money/investments, or do I just go with one or the other choosing what i think is most relevant 馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔� Because you have to state your purpose on the authorisation for police checks in Portugal.

These are people who live out from personal income that is not from work or retirement. This can be e.g. rents from real estate ( immovable property), shares / bonds (movable property), intellectual property (copyright property), financial assets (interest on personal deposits), ....

If you are retired or living on rental income from property, for example, both are passive income, so the visa is the same, D7.

Basically, it's just to declare the origin of your money. And based on that, have to submit the proof of income that suits the modality you have chosen.

I guess 'people living out from individual revenue' is more relevant to myself since I am documenting lettings income from rented properties, and I don't have an official retirement document.

It's quite the mouthful to fit onto the declaration for Portugese Police Check though, there is only really enough space for one handwritten word;

'applicant for Residency / Temporary Stay visa for the purpose of ________________, I authorize, under the terms of subparagraph d) of paragraph 1 of art.'

That's the snippet I'm referring to . . .

I think it should be:

"applicant for Residency visa for the purpose of People living on their own income, I authorize, under the terms of subparagraph d) of paragraph 1 of art.77,.."

I'm confused by the other links you posted they take me to SEF sites/guidance which is more applicable to my Appointment once in Portugal right? At this stage I am applying at the Portuguese Embassy in London . . .

The SEF links are there to justify that it is article 77 paragraph 1. But this is not relevant to you.

Regarding the visa form to fullfill, I don't know if it is the following:

19. Applicant's home address - do I put my home address in Portugal (I have a house there), or the current address where I'm residing in my origin country?

20. Is it likely to effect my chances being a resident in another country other than the country of my current nationality? I have a residency in Australia.

21. Current Occupation - well I'm applying for a D7 visa for people living on their own income i.e. property rental income, I guess that means I'm a Landlord? Although I spend most of my time Gardening just not for income. Or is this a not applicable since I don't have an Employer (Q22)?

26. Member State of first entry; is this France since I will be driving and crossing the Ferry?

27. Intended date of departure from Portugal after the first intended stay? I've got no current plans to depart Portugal after my entry/stay, so is this not applicable?

30. Surname and first name of the inviting person in the Member State(s). If not applicable, name of hotel or temp accommodation in the Member State(s). I don't know how to answer this since i don't have either I have a purchased house? Is it also requiring an inviting person from France my first entry Country (since I'm driving)?

Sorry, but my purpose here is not to help people fill forms .... I know as much as you do, I can deduce the answers by logic, but they may not be the right ones. These questions should be addressed to the Portuguese consulate in the UK:

If I am allowed to ask a question, I do not understand how people get through getting approval and visa within聽 4 -6 months upon applying, I have been stuck for almost 20months now (1st rejection, 2nd rejection)... just awating for positive reply from the Portugal Embassy

I don't know how to answer that question. But it seems to me, on my own assumption, that each portuguese embassy in a different country may have different criteria and/or additional requirements.

Did they give a reason for the rejection? You should only have to address that (those?) and reapply. Ours was about 7 weeks from the submission to receiving the visas.
