I hope you find suitable response related to your search for Coimbra. However if you ever consider Madeira, then I have a property that I own聽 in Madeira/Tabua 9350-412 that is available off an on when we are back in UK.

Geography is not my best strength, Google maps says Tabua is 50min from Coimbra but Madeira is聽 on the coast of Africa?

50 minutes is maybe a bit too much though, I'll probably would like to be in Coimbra every day to attend a language course.

Yes, plenty available indeed. Though many are pretty small (which is expected given the large University) and I was hoping to find something just outside Coimbra town centre where I could park a car - so I could walk to the school (or use a bus) and then be free to explore when not busy.
