Age limits for teaching English or finding work in Portugal

Hello!  My husband (who is an EU passport holder) and I (U.S. citizen) would like to relocate to Portugal from the U.S. We will be relocating with our small dog. I am 60 years old with a lot of experience teaching English as a foreign language and I am wondering if there are age limits for teaching English or finding some other work there.  Also, is there a demand for English teachers in Portugal?   We have visited Portugal in the past and absolutely loved the country.  Thank you in advance for any information you can supply.

@jfweber23, Welcome.

There is no age limit, as long as you have the necessary qualifications for the job. One of the oldest English language schools in Portugal is the British Council. Perhaps you can get more specific information about this from them:

Hi and Welcome,

My brother does TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)  and pointed out that British Council is in financial difficulties and has closed or reduced staffing in places so, presently, may not be as useful as before.

PS,

upon asking my brother said he got work by contacting "language schools" directly with a short relevant CV and his availability, then, repeating the same a couple of months later as some jobs were a temporary couple of hours a week one to one  so the info in the link  above from johnnyPT   would be a very useful start if you know the location you are looking at, brother was in Lisbon.

@Strontium

Thank you.

@JohnnyPT

Thank you.
