Information on what life would be like for a couple of young at heart

MiMi Quin

Hello there
Just found this site and delighted with it! Have been looking to buy a house around Caldas, which we visited last November but have now discovered Lourinha and feel this would suit us even better. Currently our favourite house is in Ruenguo Grande so - any information on what life would be like in either place for a couple of young at heart, social, fun retirees would be brilliant please?
Thanks already!

Hi
We’re looking at a house for sale in RG but can’t visit from the UK at present to view it so please could you give us an insight to what it’s like to live in the area? Are the amenities good, is it easy to meet and make friends locally and is it well kept? Would love to hear anything you’d like to share if you don’t mind!
Cheers.

Hi MiMi and Rod, Welcome :)

First of all, what does it mean "Ruenguo Grande" ?... Reguengo Grande? ;)
If you like Reguengo Grande, you are located less than 15/20 km from Caldas da Rainha, Peniche, Obidos, Lourinhã, Bombarral, Foz do Arelho, ... where there is already a considerable community of French and English speaking expatriates.

Silver Coast is a nice region, near the sea, with plenty of beaches and cycle roads. This region is famous for its ancient towns, breathtaking beaches, and rugged coastline. Fairs and festivals run throughout the year, so you can always guarantee there will be interesting cultural events to look forward to (after covid...). It is also a popular destination for surfers, and beaches such as Peniche and Nazare. This region is home to some of the best golf courses in Portugal.

Nearby there are also Coimbra, Nazaré, Batalha, Alcobaça, Leiria...  Winter weather is most of the times good. Near the coast, in winter season is more wet than a few km far from the coast. But you can see the weather parameters on internet.

Best regards

We lived for more than a year ind Cascais and later on moved to the Torres Vedras area. During the past years we explored the area and have come to the conclusion thata Torres Vedras is almost ideal. There is a very fast bus connection to Lisbon (Campo Grande) and it only takes 30 minutes on the motorway to the Lisbon airport. On the other hand we are close to the beaches of the Torres Vedras district and in 30 minutes we can be in Caldas as well as Lourinha.
