Hello from Chaos!

I'm Sarah, currently in central Portugal but planning to move to Romanian in the next 12 months. Originally from the UK I moved to Dublin in 1995 and to Portugal in 2007. I work as a remedial hypnotist, love my horses and dogs, gymming and learning to play the piano (badly, but gotta start somewhere).

I'm going to be in Romania from 1-23rd October to travel around and see which city/area speaks to me.

Hi Sarah,

Nice to meet you and thank you for sharing a little about yourself. My name is Riccardo, I'm originally from Italy and I've been living and working in Romania for more than 22 years. During this time I've had the opportunity to get to know the country, its people, culture and the practical realities of everyday life quite well.

Based on what you've shared so far, I think it may be worth taking a look at areas such as Brașov, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Timișoara, as they all offer quite different lifestyles and atmospheres.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever been to Romania before, even for a short visit, or will October be your very first experience of the country?

I'm sure your October trip will give you a much clearer feeling for which part of Romania, if any, feels like home.

Hi Riccardo,

That's spooky – my itinerary is Bucharest (just to get a feel for the capital) then Sibiu, Timisoara (which I have the best feeling about so far), Oradea, Brasov and leave via Bucharest. October will be my first visit but then I moved to Portugal sight unseen and that worked out OK ;)
