Bringing money to Russia

Hello again! I have another question.

I will be coming to Moscow for four months and I was wondering about money. Should I bring rubles, or euros, or American dollars? Or can I use my Australian credit card to make payments?

I had some trouble with converting American Dollars. If you bring them, make sure they are crisp, new bills; otherwise the banks / exchanges might refuse to exchange them.
