Looking for advice on finding jobs and accommodation

Hi everyone,

My name is Phil, and my wife Jan, our 3-year-old dog Lenny, and I are in the process of moving to Scotland around mid this year. We're incredibly excited about the adventure ahead, but I won鈥檛 lie, we鈥檙e also a bit scared of the big move! We鈥檙e complete newbies here on the forum, and to be honest, we鈥檙e not quite sure where to start. We鈥檙e looking for any advice, especially when it comes to finding jobs and accommodation.

If anyone has any tips or experiences to share, we鈥檇 love to hear from you! Looking forward to connecting with other expats and getting a feel for life in Scotland.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You haven't mentioned it, so I'm assuming you have sorted out your visas; if you haven't and need them, the UK Gov website is the first port of call in your journey; this link will take you straight to the relevant section.

Jobs - you haven't said what you do, so my advice is to join LinkedIn and reach out to your peers already working where you are aiming to live and ask them who is hiring, where and how much they're paying, then you will know if you can afford to make this jump.

Accommodation - always difficult from long range; my advice is to use something like AirBnb to find something for when you first arrive, then you can start to look for something permanent once you get here; this will take you straight to their website.

Dogs - this will take you to the UK Government website that deals with this matter.

Last point - watch out for scammers.
