Enterprise SaaS sales job market in Spain

Hi everyone,

I’m currently based in London and exploring opportunities to relocate to Spain. I have 16+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS sales across international markets. I’d really appreciate any insight into the current job market, particularly for senior commercial or enterprise sales roles. How realistic is it to find opportunities, and are there specific cities or industries I should focus on?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi! Happy to help.

I’ve been living in Spain for about 2 years now. Before that, I lived in France and ran my own IT company, working with SaaS technologies (mostly client projects rather than our own products).

From what I see, in Spain there are basically two main cities to focus on given your background: Barcelona and Madrid.

I’d definitely recommend looking at Barcelona - it’s more of a tech hub and tends to offer the highest salaries. Madrid, as the capital, also has good opportunities, especially with larger companies, and salaries are fairly comparable.

For your level, I’d estimate something in the range of €80k–€100k per year, which is considered very good in Spain. That said, overall salaries here are generally lower than in the UK, France, or Germany.

To be honest, the best option (if you can make it work) is to keep working remotely for a UK company, earn a UK-level salary, and live in Spain. The cost of living is roughly half of what you’d pay in the UK, and the quality of life and climate are much better 🙂 - but I think, you already know it.

p.s. also there’s a big Techpark in Malaga.

Hi, and thank you, this is helpful.

Barcelona sounds like the most relevant option given my background. From your experience, are most of the roles there coming through internal hiring or recruiters?

Also, are there specific companies or tech clusters you’d recommend targeting directly?

Appreciate the insight.

Hello,

Yes, extensively. I’m now focusing more on direct outreach and market insights.
