Costa BlancaCelebrant wrote:Hello Julian & Everyone,
I am a new聽 member and I have just posted a '2 sides of the postcard' reply about living here,
Over 15 years ago I moved here. I live a little way from the coast -in a beautiful valley.
My home is a stone built聽 finca, which I share with my rescue cats.
My business is Weddings. I used to do a lot of planning and catering-
but as I am now somewhat more mature- I do less of that.-too many hrs on the feet.
I am a Registered Humanist Celebrant- so I聽 write and conduct non religious weddings,
funerals, baby naming etc.
Some friends and I started the first Women in Business Club here many years ago
( despite being told by the local Council that it would not be possible !)
It took some years to make legal but we did it. I was Vice President for a few years.
We did, and still do., a lot of fund raising to help the victims of Domestic violence of all Nationalities,
and support the local shelters,聽 liasing with Councils to help, and get the families back on their feet..
So -enough for now. always work to do.. and anxious Brides. .

Hi there Shaun
Thanks for your email. Yeah, I'm looking at Gibraltar for sure. To be honest, I'll go wherever the work is! If I haven't heard anything from the jobs I've applied for this past 2 weeks, then I'm coming over around 20th May for 2 weeks. I'll be working my way up from Gibraltar - Malaga - Alicante - Barcelona. I'm going to be staying in hostels along the way. If you have any advice or tips Shaun, then that would be very much appreciated.聽 Good luck with your job hunt too. Hopefully we'll both be lucky, fingers crossed. Cheers, Laura

I am ready for a change in my life and If I do move to Spain, I'm not sure yet where.聽 Probably somewhere central or northern portion.聽 I am still doing research and making my plans so do not have a set date yet.聽 However, it will not be before May/June of next year.聽 It would just be my husband and me.

聽 Thank for the warm welcome. I live in the USA and my family on my father's side is mexican and Spanish. I am a widow for about nine years now and have 2 children. My dream has always been to live in Spain. I would like to live in the mountains with a lake. A small town would be nice, so that the children can really experience Spain. I am also a devout Catholic so I need to be close to a church. Any recommendations?
聽 Also I homeschool my children, so I can travel across Spain.聽 I do not want city life!
聽 Thank you!!
Then moved to a very nice village called Xerta. I have made friends here but would like to meet more people. I like dancing walking and reading. I am a widow sadly lost my husband to an accident in the small house we owned here it was due to carbon monoxide so i would like to advise anyone with any gas in there homes to get a detector. Looking forward to hearing from some of you. yours faithfully Liz

The scenery varies a lot as well.聽 As you would expect the further south you are the yellower the scenery.聽 The north can be surprisingly green, with large tracts of pine trees which are protected here, as well as farm land.聽 Most of the Med. coast is paralleled by a string of mountains, so if you love mountains and the beach, it would not be worth looking too far inland.
If you are not country folks then perhaps one of the cities would be best, Barcelona is thought to be a lovely city, then there is Madrid which is also very cosmopolitan.聽 If you would prefer to go for a smaller city there are plenty to choose from.聽 I suggest you get a map out and base your search on climate, and size of city, town.聽 You don't say how long you will be able to visit to try it out, but perhaps four or five bases, over a four or five week stay minimum would be best.聽 The longer the better to know you wont have made a mistake when you come here permanently.
Also don't forget Spanish is often quite different from Mexican Spanish.聽 Good luck

Also advise on vets and pet insurance etc
Hello everyone! I was an expat in Spain and I will be again! I will move back to my lovely C谩diz in August , doing a doctorate program at the UCA. Now , for surviving there, I would like to work at a language school. My mothertongue is German and I've been studying English at the university, in combination with Psychology and Philosophy. It was a MA with teacher training . I got the official teaching license. Now, my question is... how can I get into the "list" of the E.O.I.'s ? Do I need to apply directly at the Junta de Andaluc铆a? If so, where? Or does anyone know languages schools (both English or German) that are looking for an experienced German/English teacher? Don't hesitate to contact me!
i'm Jen, and I'm moving to Barcelona next month for the summer, and then I will be heading south to Andalusia.
Nice to meet you all

Good luck with the move, not sure about the work situation where you are going , but unfortunately here in Alicante its not great.
I am a general builder ,things have been bad for about 3 years now , I just seem to get odd jobs here and there now,
But my wife who is a Teacher ( per school ) is very busy , we can still eat !

My name is Fabiola, I am originally from Colombia but I moved on May 2013 from Vancouver where I lived for 14 years. I am in Valencia with my 9 years old daughter.
It's been a tough time, I don't know why but adapting to a new city is not easy. After 12 months living in Spain I can finally say my life is easier and I am enjoying this new chapter. For a while I thought about going back to Canada but I had to let my daughter finish her 4th grade, during this time I had the opportunity to visit several cities. I had the option to live in South France but I decided to stay in Valencia for all the advantages this city offers.
I would love to meet some other expats and if possible find friends for my daughter , she really misses her play dates with her friends in Vancouver.
My name's Luca and I'26.
I' m working in Gibraltar as a Service Engineer but living in La Linea.
I'm trying to learn spanish and, as an italian, is not so simple as they say.
That said,
隆Hasta Luego!
I am from Taiwan, 24 years old.聽 I want to live in Spain someday. I am studying Spanish. I will be happy if anyone wants to talk to me
