New to the city...

Hi everyone,

Just very recently moved to Barcelona and impatient me can't wait to get out there to meet new people and, hopefully, make new friends soon.

Plus: if there are any kitesurfers or salseros/salseras out there who can help with advice on where to go, etc. (or even better: take me along)... please drop me a line!

Not having a social life really makes me nervous, so any email that comes to my rescue is greatly appreciated ;)

Hi Mel,

I've only just seen this post - some of us are meeting up tonight, if you have nothing else planned?

The forum thread is here: /forum/viewtopic.php?id=77520
Hi Mel,

Don't worry, after a little bit of time in Barcelona you will meet plenty of people.
There are quite a few good salsa spots, here are a few:
Antilla which is in the Eixample. They are open most of the days of the week and stay open late. Last summer I went out salsa dancing almost every night and this was my favorite place. There are concerts on Thursday, I think starting at 10, you pay 10 Euros for entry and that also includes a cocktail :) The place is relatively big (compared to the other salsa spots) there are 2 floors, the upstairs is for smoking, and salsa
Mojito: another salsa spot that is very popular and the set up is pretty good so there is room to dance.
Agua de la Luna: I only went here once last summer and it was very crowded (not always a bad thing) and most of the dancers were reealllly good. I'm not sure how good your salsa is, but I thought mine was pretty good until I went there :P I would check it out for sure...
Salsa: is a bar/ disco on the beach that "technically" has salsa, but I wouldn't waste your time, it is REALLY crowded with people who don't dance salsa, but rather are bar/ disco hopping around the area and have happened to land there.
Sabor Cubano: located in Gracia, they have pretty good music and the people are friendly, you don't have to be a professional to go there :)
have you seen this link?
I hope that helps a little bit. To be honest I don't go out salsa dancing much anymore or I would offer to take you, but once you get into the scene you will see there are options EVER day for salsa dancing :)

Hi there!

Why not join a club? I joined the rotaract club of Barcelona. We are doing voluntary work and have a meeting every monday in avenida palace hotel. I enjoy it very much!

Go to their facebook page (rotaract barcelona) and you will find more information.
Keri,

Thank you so much for all the information. I will go have a look at the ones you recommended.

Again: thanks a lot!!

Mel
oh and Akaza, thank you as well but a club is probably not what I am looking fot, although I'm sure it's great.

Thanks anyway
Mel
