My husband has been offered a job based in Museros (I think around 20 km north of Valencia City),

I am wanting to make some comparisons with our current cost of living and living conditions before we make the move. We have a two year old and I have been working part time (primary teacher NZ trained).Ìý Where, close ish to Musero is good to live in?

I live in the north of the city but I know Museros because I have part of family there. It is a nice twon with metro to the city and a good comunication. I am sure you will feel fine there. There are some english schools close there and sure you will find english speakers close to you too. Respect the place where buy a hause you have to check it in person.. I recommend Museros, Albuixec, Foios or Rafelbunyol.. but Foios and Museros have metro (train), and perhaps it could be important.. for children and for move to the city without the car.

And on average what is a fair price for rent each month?
The price for rent depend of the flat or house but Museros is not very expensive one and you will find all kind of offers...

What do you all find the general cost of living to be like? 
I am a bit apprehensive given the dodgy state of financial affairs in Europe at the moment.

You will find the cost of living in Spain cheaper than NZ and at the moment there are no problems with financial affairs in Spain... just the taxes are increasing from 18% to 21% next september.

Are you serious?

I'm sorry but that is just absolutely wrong & plain bad advice.

Even kids know Spain is the midst of a BAD recession and unemployment of young people is almost 25%. There has been talk of withdrawal from the EU and even bankruptcy...sheesh it's been all over the news; violent protests, shops and businesses closing all over, I even read one town is growing pot to bring in money.

I don't know how you can say Spain has no financial problems..really irresponsible of expats to give false hope to others.

And yes, if Spain weren't in financial trouble, why would they increase taxes to the already poor citizens? It's austerity, same as what's happening in Greece. Spain & Portugal are close to Greece in terms of financial crisis.

The reality is that ethnic Spaniards have difficulty finding work, so expats are not likely to be hired unless they are highly skilled & requested by a company (or have family business). Unless you're a retiree with a solid retirement plan, I wouldn't advise people to move to Spain without a firm employment offer.

Thanks so much ;-) You are so right on the state of affairs in Spain and thankfully we are very aware of these. Job offer is firm but as we know financial woes within a country can most definitely affect everyone living in it. Certainly a big aspect we are considering. Really appreciate your clarification! :-)
