Nanny/maid my contract says 1 day off each week but no

When I got to the house my employer told me only two offs each month. After 10 months I had 11 offs.

I said I am leaving because no fixed off. I have to ask every time and she tells me no. I am too busy working 15 hours every day. And no off.

So I told her I will leave. She won鈥檛 give me my passport.

She tells me about my contract but she changed the number of offs. The contract says no changes. She changed it. I didn鈥檛.

Now she says I will pay her to leave because I cost her money.

She will allow me to leave if I pay her. I haven鈥檛 been paid for 3 months and she will let me leave but still no passport.

I know this is not right. But people say complaining is waste of time. She says I have a contract but she does nothing in the contract.

I am sorry you are going through this, but what you describe is serious.

Your employer should not withhold your passport or refuse to pay your salary. Both the unpaid wages and keeping your passport are generally not legal in most countries.

You should contact the local labour department or your embassy as soon as possible, as they are the proper channels to handle this type of situation.
