Well, lets see: I like mushachan, kepse, sanbusak, biriyani and ofcourse kubbeh.
And in time of Ramadan I like qataif.

Yayyyyy... musakhan..聽 kubbeh...聽 Primadonna.. your husband must be of Palestinian origin :P

I like knafe though... not so much of qatayef unless the fillings are pistachios or cream.

I really do hate mansef: I ate to much in a very short period (3 times in a week when I visit Jordan a long time ago and since then I have a love-hate relation with mansef. I try to avoid it but sometimes I must eat it and I eat only the rice)and I can asure you it was awfull. But I can cook it. When its made very good by professionals I can enjoy it.

Bamia I make it on my own way but I don't want to eat it often because I like it fifty-fifty.

Maklouba I like it too, my maklouba is famous in the inlaws because I use different spices.

O yeah, and don't forget about the khubus mankoosh. With some homemade olive oil and I am lost...

And what about you?
I like all of the mentioned dishes so far. Msachan is a bit too oily to me, mansaf has a wonderful special taste, the mix of the special sauce, bread, rice and meat and on top crispy almonds is just delicious. I know what you mean about making certain dishes in a own way such as bamieh and fasulieh therefore i always wait for the original at aunties :D... qatayef with nuts or white cheese is amazing too, unfortunately cant be found all year round. I like hommos and falafel. Try baking white cheese (from the tanakeh) in olive oil till the cheese becomes golden brown crispy, then baking eggs in same oil...wow :rolleyes:

At the end of Ramadan I buy al lot of them, fill them and put them in the freezer :D:D:D
And you can make it by yourself so you don't have to wait a whole year...

You're right about the mushachan, but the really nice one is the one with the good amount of oil and a lot of sumakonion and of course the snoober.
And I forget to mention the stuffed veggies: wineleaves, kusa and cabbage.

Yeah, live is good when you can taste good food!!!

I don't cook too well myself, only simple things.
Sweets mainly from a speciality store or a bakery depending on the quality... I know if one is awaiting the real taste of arabic food it takes time for preparation and the special spices (bharat) make the difference. Waraq dawali plays in a league of its own. For hot days simply melon with white cheese.

Ohh ..ok I got it wrong. Because musakhan is a Palestinian national dish.. that's why i thought your husband is of Palestinian parentage.
