Is it possible to change the Visa job Designation?

Dear Friends

My Friend who is a Chartered Accountant joined with a Company in Oman as Internal Auditor, He was offered a Family Visa. He reached Muscat, But after taking the Resident Card, He came to know that his visa job category is Carpenter. The company has told him to wait for few months, they shall change his visa designation and he can bring his family.

Is it possible to change the visa job designation, after getting the resident card. Is the company cheating him.
