EV - How's the Charging Infrastructure in Riyadh

Hi everyone,

I鈥檓 currently living in Canada and considering relocating to Riyadh for work. I own a Tesla Car and am exploring the option of shipping it to Saudi Arabia. Before making a decision, I鈥檇 like to understand more about the EV charging infrastructure in Riyadh and how feasible it is to maintain regular charging habits there.

Specifically, I鈥檇 love to know:

Are there sufficient EV charging stations across Riyadh, particularly for EV owners?

How reliable and accessible are the charging facilities (e.g., locations, payment methods)?

Are there Fast chargers or Tesla-compatible chargers in Riyadh?

Has anyone shipped their聽 EV to Riyadh, and how was your experience with maintenance and support?

Do you think it鈥檚 worth bringing a Tesla over, or would it be better to sell and lease or buy locally? I know there not much or no chance of finding any.

I鈥檓 keen to keep my Tesla, but I want to ensure that it will be practical to use and maintain in Riyadh. Any advice, insights, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think the first thing you need to check is if your car has GCC specs.聽 聽Meaning that it can survive in the horrifying heat and dust here.聽 聽I have friends who shipped their vehicles from North American here and had problems like dashboards melting, filters getting choked in sandstorms etc.

As far as the EV charging structure goes, it is not as comprehensive as in Canada.聽 You do have "some" charging stations but most people do it in their homes.聽 聽A lot of people drive hybrids rather than a full electric vehicle.

My advice would be to forget about bringing it and instead, get one locally.聽
