Asked to move to KSA

We were recently asked if we would consider moving to SA. We are currently expats in Shanghai on our third expat assignment. We understand the lifestyle but I have questions about SA and I would really appreciate any input you can offer to help us make the decision to move. We are Americans living in Shanghai with聽 15 and 14 year old sons and a 10 year old daughter. All in a British International school on Shanghai. Our daughter, the 10 year, old has severe ADHD and is in special education. Do the international schools聽 have special education programs to accommodate a child 1-2 years behind their peers? Would we be able to find a psychiatrist to prescribe聽 ADHD medications there? We also have two dogs that we took with us to China and they are part of our family. Can we import our large dogs and what are the rules and regulations for dog owners in SA? Lastly, I鈥檓 concerned for my teenage boys socially. What and where do teenagers go/do in Khobar?

There are a lot of resources on these forums related to life in KSA.聽 As mentioned, special needs is not a big thing in this part of the world and support is lacking.

You can browse the forums and then come back with specific questions.

What I can tell you is that for experienced expats i.e. people who have done assignments in 3-4 countries; KSA is considered a hardship posting.聽 聽So make sure to factor that in as you will get a lot of positive comments from people, especially from the sub-continent, who see the tax-free angle and the general lack of experience in being an expat.
