Hi everyone,

Two years after the start of the pandemic, it is time to take stock of the evolution of the cost of living in Turkey or more specifically, in the region where you live. The idea is to help people get ready for their expatriation to Turkey to plan their day-to-day budget for some key expenses.

If you are a tenant, what is your monthly rent? Please give details of the type of property you are in.

How much are your monthly charges (water, electricity, common area maintenance charges, etc.) and additional expenses (mobile phone and/or internet box subscriptions)?

How much do you spend on commuting (by public transport or using your car) each month?

How much does your grocery shopping cost in Turkey?

How much do you spend on health care (health insurance, consultations, etc.)?

How much are your children's school fees, depending on the type of school they attend?

What about your budget for leisure activities?

Do not hesitate to indicate other everyday costs if they could be useful to others.

@Cheryl聽 We are two persons in our family here me and 16 y.o. son, we both are expats and already permanent residents 聽in Turkey. Our living monthly 聽costs in Istanbul, which includes only 鈥渕ust be paid鈥� is 11K Turkish lira. Which is 5K more compared with 2020. Just to share. Love and Peace to everyone.聽

Expect "super inflation and devaluation聽 in a couple of months, unless a miracle happens..聽

Apologies, but of course inflation is an issue (especially is the TRY is stable). I expect devaluation or significant drop shortly. Big issue for locals, for expats a very limited issue (yes things are MUCH more expensive if the TRY is at this level, but still so much much cheaper than Western Europe (Hungary is not known to be expensive, but Cigarettes in Turkey are so much cheaper and believe it also alcohol). Restaurants strangely are around the same (mid-high restaurants). For normal things (Vegs/Fruits/Toilet paper/.... very cheap), for an expat inflation in my view is not too much of an issue.
