Healthcare in the United Arab Emirates

Hi,

how does the healthcare system work in the United Arab Emirates ? Is it efficient ?

What are the main differences between public and private sectors?

Is it recommended to purchase private health insurance in the United Arab Emirates?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience !

I'd definitely buy a health insurance. It depends on which emirate you are in. In Abu Dhabi, the government requires that all residents have a health insurance provided by their employer.

In Dubai, it is good if you had your own because if you want good quality care, it's expensive and your employer doesn't have to provide it.

I used a broker to help just because there were so many options. I can send you the details if you want. Her name is Aurora from Pacific Prime.
Hi,

In order to help expats and soon-to-be expats, we would like to invite you to share your experience on this topic, with updated info on the healthcare system.

Thank you in advance,

Hi guys! I wanted to share my thoughts regarding this post as am working as a insurance coordinator in a private sector here in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

If you guys currently residing here in UAE.. then i preferred you to have Daman National Health insurance and Abu Dhabi National Insirance Company ( ADNIC) which is accepted in both private and public sectors.

For me, this is the best insurance company here in UAE that will cover almost 80-90% of your total Expenses.

And yes, it is mandatory from the government of UAE for each person to have a health insurance.

I hope this info could help you guys!!!
Hi,
UAE Healthcare is efficient.
There is nothing like public and private sectors with regard to insurance. Its common.
Most of companies provide insurance to their employers. If you need to take insurance of any in family, then you need to take your own.
Cheers

Hi,

My company have not made any insurance for us.
Actually.i did not like the system of health care in emirates.comparing to germany where i lived for 5 years they r fair enough.now the governmental hospital r only for locals even if u ve health insurance.better to go to private hospitals to save time but not money.qualified doctors r in non private hospitals.some 5 stars hospitals lake primitive care knowledge.hope they improve soon or establishe non local sectors in governmental hospitals.
Yes
it is recommeded to purchase private health insurance
Well my time in dubai loved it. But when my child was born. He had a disorder called CHARGE syndrome. My company called Unipods cancelled my medical insurance because he had a disorder. and it cost聽 360,000 AED in 21 days till I could get him out of dubai and back to UK. He die twice on the flight and brought back and he's still with us now. If your going to Dibai be careful it's still a backwards place and I've spent 6 months fighting a court battle to get my first child's birth certificate. They can all speak English just won't. They were the worst people I've ever dealt with and they put my small young family though so much unnessary crap. Dubai is a great place but if it goes wrong emberssy won't help your on your own.

Hi, can you please send me the details of choosing the right insurance? I will be teaching in RAS al Khaimah. The school only provides insurance for me, not my husband. So I need a good inexpensive insurance for him. Thanks
