Recognition of foreign qualifications in the United Arab Emirates

Hello everyone,

Were your professional qualifications recognised in the United Arab Emirates? What country did you complete your qualifications in? What profession are you in?

Did you have to go through any formalities to get your qualifications recognised, such as to have them translated?

If your qualifications weren't recognised, were there any additional tests or exams you had to complete before you were able to practice your profession in the United Arab Emirates or continue with your studies?

My聽 experience
I am a聽 civil聽 engineering聽 degree聽 holder working in聽 Abu Dhabi. Here聽 in UAE聽 almost two decades.聽聽At the beginning,聽 i worked聽 for聽 a private聽 company聽 and聽 required聽 my certificate聽 to be attested by foreign聽 ministry of my country (Sri聽 Lanka)聽 ,聽 then聽 UAE聽 embassy.聽聽When I come聽 to UAE, from Foreign聽 Ministry attestation is required.聽

When I joined聽 a聽 Government聽 Organization聽 in 2000, they requested聽 equivalency聽 certificate to聽 my聽 degree in UAE聽 and聽 got聽 it through聽 Ministry of聽 Education.聽 Require聽 to聽 fulfill their聽 requirements.聽 Latest聽 requirements聽 can聽 be obtained聽 from聽 the聽 MOE聽 website.

Healthcare聽 certificate聽聽holders聽 require聽 HAAD certificate in Abu Dhabi聽 or聽 Dubai.

Hi Priscilla, I have Electrical Engineering Degree from Pakistan, To practice in UAE as an engineer visa, employee's degree should be attested from his country UAE Embassy. that's all.

good morning.....for me as a physician....we have to do exam in ministry of health to get a license...it is not easy exam,,,,this is for medical staff.....i do not know about other careers..i think teachers have exam too

Get all your qualifications attested from your local government before your move. this will help you once you look for work. When you apply for a visa only attested qualifications will help you. Sometimes if you try and attest from the UAE it will take many weeks and you might loose the job opportunity
