Vaccines required in the United Arab Emirates

Hello everybody,

When living or moving abroad, and in particular in the United Arab Emirates, vaccination against certain diseases is often required to enter the country or to avoid risks.

We would like to ask you a few questions to help future expats there.

What is your relationship to vaccines in general?

Did you get vaccinated before moving to the United Arab Emirates?
Were these vaccinations compulsory or recommended?

Did you refuse to get any vaccine that was recommended for the United Arab Emirates? If so, why?

If you are an expatriate in the United Arab Emirates, are you encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine? Do you have access to the vaccine and do you plan to get it?

Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?

Many thanks,

Diksha,

I am not in the medical field and I did not look at what vaccines were 'required' or 'recommended' prior to coming to the UAE in 2016.

I did not take any vaccines upon arrival in the UAE, but I have taken the COVID vaccine late in 2020 when it was first issued for 'Emergency' use due to the position I was filling in.聽

I do not believe that the vaccine is a requirement to enter the UAE, in fact, I am not sure if ANY country has initiated any type of reciprocal arrangement for vaccines.聽 So, even if you have had a vaccine in another country, it is uncertain if the health officials will accept that for their country.聽 In the UAE, even if you have had a vaccine (in the UAE), you have to have a PCR test every 7 days in order to keep the travel limitations lifted within the UAE.聽 International travelers still have to maintain PCR testing prior to travel (72 or 96 hours) from certain countries.
Hi Diksha,
The Vaccine is not Mandatory. All residents and citizens are urged to take the vaccine in the UAE. it is free for them.
However the UAE has very stringent laws for entering the country enabled to protect its citizens and working expats..
You require to do a PCR test 24 hours before boarding any flight coming to the UAE. Please check which countries are allowed to come into the UAE. before there may be restrictions which change due to circumstances.
You will also have to take another test when you arrive at the airport. You will then require to share an mobile number in the UAE where you can be contacted for your Test results.
In addition you will require to be self quarantined for 10-15 days. before you are allowed to move around.
Do go to the UAE sites like Emirates.com to have a clear picture of what you can and cannot do.
Please respect UAE culture by wearing suitable attire.
I am Ok with vaccines and would certainly get the covid19

No vaccination聽 is required for new resident a few years ago.
I don't know the present requirements.

Covid19 is not required for new residents.

Covid19 negative PCR is required for entry in the UAE

Residents can register for free vaccination at government centers.
