Hi fellow Expats,

How good is the below offer for a family?

Salary: 40K AED/month
School allowance: Max 65K AED/year
Medical insurance

I would also be greatful for your comments on housing and school costs:

1. Minimum/Average housing costs for 3-4 bedroom
2. Minimum/Average school fees for English international schools (primary level)

Any other cost factors to consider that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Well there are many stickies on the forum regarding costs.

Few quick questions:

1) The schooling allowance is total or per child?聽聽if it is total and all kids are school going, you will have a big problem.聽聽Good quality schools for western expats can range anywhere from 30K a year to 90K a year PER child
2) Is medical insurance covering all the kids?聽 usually companies only cover wife and 2 kids
3) Housing for a 3-4 bed villa can also range from 100K to 250K depending on locality

65K is total for all kids per year & medical is for the whole family.

That is not good then.聽 Keep in mind that you will be paying easily twice your allowance for all 5 kids and that is for average schools, not good ones.

Need to make a correction:

The education allowance is 65K for each child not max for everyone.

Also, we only have 3 children not 5.
