100% disabled veterans and healthcare in Mexico?

I'm 100% DAV and not sure how vets use this for healthcare in Mexico.聽 I'd prefer not going back to the US if possible.聽 I'm not against paying out of pocket for minor visits (I do that here in Texas rather than mess with the bureaucracy to get reimbursed).

Unfortunately聽 as聽 veterans聽 we聽 cannot聽 use聽 our聽 VA benefits here in Mexico.聽 The聽 only聽 option is to see聽 a聽 local聽 doctor "consultorio"聽 which I use for routine checkups.聽 In San Miguel de Allende I use the local doctor next to Similares Farmacia聽 which聽 聽commonly聽 have a consultorio next聽 door聽 to聽 their pharmacy/farmacia.聽 For聽 urgent matters聽 I聽 am聽 aware of聽 聽the hospital聽 in San Miguel de Allende but聽 I聽 have not used it.聽 聽I聽 know that if I have an urgent need,聽 聽my聽 local聽 doctor here聽 is聽 willing聽 to聽 help me if need be.聽 Develop relationships with local聽 doctors and locals in general as this community has shown me聽 their compassion to help聽 me聽 become a part of the community聽 and聽 adapt to a new life here.
I hope聽 that聽 I've聽 answered聽 your questions and feel free to stay in touch.聽 Semper Fi聽 brother veteran.

I鈥檝e been in Mexico for almost 5 years and have not needed major medical assistance yet. I contacted the Va and was told that it was like Tricare Overseas. You pay for the service and submit a form and get reimbursed. I鈥檓 retired AirForce and 100%VA. I鈥檝e used the tricare and it takes time, but it works. I suggest you contact the VA and discuss it with them. Good luck!
