Hi Everyone

I have arrived in Buenos Aires from Yorkshire in England a week ago.聽

I am 55 and semi retired. My daughter now runs the business and in the nicest way wants me out of the way.

So I plan to travel around quite a lot. Probably mostly by motorcycle.

I wondered if anyone had any tips for finding employment in a Chilean vineyard picking grapes or generally helping out.

I am fit and healthy and will fit in well with any group and conditions.

Look forward to talking to you.

Don
Hi,
I鈥檓 Ketaki Deshpande from India.
I flew to Argentina on the 21st of the feb 2020 and it鈥檚 been 3 days so far. The experience is quite good. I have explores some of my neighbourhood here in Almagro. Since, I鈥檝e been here for only 3 days there nothing much to experience but it would be lovely if someone shows me around. The people over here are really sweet but none of them speaks English and I don鈥檛 speak Spanish. So there is this communication barrier though. Presently I鈥檓 looking for an accommodation since, I鈥檝e booked this place only for a week. I鈥檒l e studying my masters in the University of Buenos Aries for 8 months so, I鈥檓 looking for a place for 8 months. It would be really helpful if someone could guide me through this.
Looking forward for your response.

Best wishes,
Ketaki

Some guides are free, and also speak English.

For accomodations I would suggest asking the guides.聽 You can also try AirBNB and possibly negotiate lower rates for your longer stay:

You could also look at Locanto at ads placed by owners as well as agencies, to find apartments or rooms to rent:

Look under INMUEBLES and then the first line is for apartments for rent, the second line is for rooms for rent.聽 Just click on the line to go to the pages of the listings.

I am nicknamed Dante or Everest, call me whichever you would prefer.

I am a single female looking to move in Argentina after I graduate college. I am a Computer Science major and a minor in Chinese Studies (just the language idk why it is called that). I am an incoming sophomore (meaning I finished my freshman year). My degree program of study is 5 years long so I have 4 years to work and save money.
We moved to Buenos Aires in August. We left for Mexico and NYC in mid-February and we got locked out of Argentina. I don鈥檛 think we鈥檇 be enjoying the strict quarantine, though.

We鈥檙e in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, right now, waiting for Argentina to re-open the airports. We still have our apartment in Buenos Aires, near Parque Las Heras.

We really need an accountant who knows expat issues, though, to understand how taxes will affect us. We were in Argentina just 5.5 months before getting locked out, so it actually bought us some time. I understand that you if you鈥檙e in the country 6 months, you have to pay taxes.
Hi, my name is Eddie.聽 I am a 66 year old American living near Bangkok.聽 Thinking of coming to Argentina.聽 Is the border open?聽 If not, when is the current lockdown due to expire?
Regards
Eddie
I don't know about flights to Argentina from Southeast Asia. I think you can fly to Santiago, Chile, then bus or fly to Argentina from there. Call the embassy there for better advice. Do you know anything about the blue dollar exchange rate now? I read you can now sell.1 dollar for 120 Argentine Pesos. Does that sound right?
Argentina will open its airports again in September.

Hey Don how did you make out?聽 Did your plans get off the ground, you know with the Covid and all?
How did you end up in Argentina?聽 I find what you wrote interesting on your page.聽 I will travel in January if covid doesn't shut the US down for travel.聽 I will be looking for a place around Cordoba and will return to the US.聽 Then around May or June make the move, maybe sooner but I have much to get done here.聽 How is doing business in Argentina?聽 I hear the taxes are terrible?聽 I am not sure what to do I need to learn as much as possible so I don't lose out.聽 Anyway, Take care and I look forward to your message.

Respectfully
Dan
Hi Dan.

Wow I need to update my home message, I guess it's been a while.

I had to come back states side to take care of some things and because of covid I was never able to get back. Was in Florida but now I am waiting out the pandemic in North Carolina. I am guesstimating late February early March聽 to go to Formosa, Argentina however that providence (state) is a little tougher than the rest of the country with travel restrictions. But regardless I need to get back there before I can move on. So I am basically in a holding pattern.

What made you decide on Cordoba? What is your line of work? I can help guide you if you like. I am knowledgeable in a few areas of South America and may or may not stay in Argentina this next go around. Taxes are like a large tree in Argentina with many variables and moving parts. It just depends how close to the trunk your business is for your tax rate. Can be explained in another time but nothing to really worry about. The only thing you really need to know is you will be in another country and that is like ANOTHER WORLD. In other words it will suit you best to forget about the laws and method of operation that you are accustomed to. It's a whole new set of rules and and how they are enforced here. Truthfully I like it better than in the USA that can be so anal about things.

Well that's a start.
