For those of you who will be remaining in Brazil over the Christmas/New Year holiday season there are a number of special cultural events all over the country. These are just a few of the bigger ones, if you want to take them in.

NATAL DE LUZ - GRAMADO, RS



The entire city is decorated with lights and there is a huge parade, concerts, nativity scenes and light shows everywhere.

HSBC Christmas Choir - Curitiba- PR



Even if you don't live in or around Curitiba you won't have to leave the comfort of your livingroom to enjoy the annual carolling of the children at HSBC's Pal谩cio Avenida. The event is televised all over Brazil. It's a spectacular event and I never miss it.

Christmas Tree - Parque Ibiripuera, S茫o Paulo - SP



Lighting of the tree in S茫o Paulo's spectacular Ibirapuera Park is accompanied by the illuminated, dancing waters of the fountains and a beautiful fireworks display.

Pra莽a da Liberdade - Belo Horizonte - MG



Every year the Pra莽a is decorated with thousands of lights making for a very spectacular display.

Christmas Tree of the Lagoon - Rio de Janeiro - RJ



Rio also has its own Christmas tree lighting ceremony complete with spectacular fireworks.

Roberto Carlos Christmas Special



Another 'armchair' event you won't need to leave home for. Brazil's most beloved singer Roberto Carlos puts on a televised special performance that features a number of stars.
