Also the PT has stated that they will petition the Federal Supreme Court to block the impeachment process, and we should all remember that now the majority of the Ministers on the STF are PT appointees. If you honestly believe that the executive branch and the judiciary are separated in this country then I have some prime real estate in Florida and a few bridges spread around the USA that I'd love to sell you.

maybe jail will earn them a law degree! I am curious for I see a pardon in the wings for all.

Today millions of Brazilians took to the streets all over the country to protest against the current government and call for the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff.
In S茫o Paulo alone it is estimated that 1.4 million people participated in the protest rally. Without a doubt this has been the largest public demonstration in the history of this nation. I can't understand how this woman still doesn't get the message and step down.

Fortunately I live in Maca茅, about 4 hours drive north of Rio. I'm so glad for that because even on a Sunday it would certainly cause absolute chaos in a city. More than a million in Rio, 1.4 million in S茫o Paulo... the real miracle is all of it non-violent, not at all like the protests a few years ago over the raise of bus fare and World Cup.

I wish us all a good journey and put on a life vest to prevent drowning.

Just to make it clear what happens if and when President Dilma Rousseff is impeached the photo above is the line of Presidential Succession defined by the Federal Constitution of 1988.
From left to right, President Dilma Rousseff (PT), Vice President Michel Temer (PMDB), President of the House of Representatives Eduardo Cunha (PMDB), President of the Senate Renan Calheiros (PMDB), President of the Federal Supreme Court Ricardo Lewandowski (appointed by Lula).
In the event of impeachment of the President everybody moves up one slot. Temer becomes President, Cunha Vice President, Calheiros President of the House of Representatives and Lewandowski President of the Senate. So now let's take a close look at all of them. Michel Temer is currently being investigated and also being considered jointly with Rousseff for revocation of their mandates by the Electoral Supreme Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral - TSE) for irregularities in the last election. Cunha is under investigation and subject to current process of revocation of his mandate. Calheiros had previously had his mandate revoked and later reinstated, currently under investigation for irregularities. Lewandowski has consistently acted more like one of the defense lawyers for the PT than he ever has as a Minister of the Federal Supreme Court and there is absolutely no doubt where his loyalties lie.
The only real solution for the desparate problems this country is in would be in the case that the TSE actually revokes the mandate of both Rousseff and Temer before the end of this year. Since that would fall within the first 2 years of the mandate, according to the Constitution there must be a new Federal election.
Under any other circumstances just having the top three Executive offices, while it might produce temporary stability, occupied by individuals who are themselves under investigation and subject to removal from office would throw this country into utter chaos even greater than it is facing right now. Perish the thought!!!
The roller coaster cars are almost all loaded and ready to roll, and it's a ride that I don't want to be on. I'm betting that none of you guys do either, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Wowzer! and Yikes Woman Overboard!
Today, in almost unanimity the commission to vote on impeachment of Dilma was elected. At 7pm today (Thursday) the House of Representatives voted 433 in favor and 1 against on the members who will compose the commission that will decide whether or not Dilma will be impeached.
Given the public outcry over her clear attempt to interfere with this country's judiciary, by appointing Lula to a Ministry I'm convinced her impeachment is a done deal. That said, I'm equally convinced that she'll make the traditionally Brazilian eleventh hour decision to step down, rather than be impeached and lose all of her political rights, once impeachment becomes iminent.
She clearly violated Art. 85, II of the Constitution in that appointment of Lula was done with the sole purpose of attempting to provide him with a priviledged court (STF) and shield him from the investigations of Lava Jato. I see absolutely no way that she can avoid the charges for the Crime of Responsibility.
Even if Lula's appointment stands, which I highly doubt it will, the Federal Supreme Court would reveal itself to be simply a puppet of the PT government, if they reversed their previous decision in a parallel case of Desvio de Finalidade.
The road ahead is going to be full of bumps and potholes, I'm not sure that any of those on the bus are going to get out alive.
