If this is true where is the information that tell you what you have to do. Thank for any information - @NewBrazil

The information on what to do is here:

But if you're 60 years old or more, you don't have to renew anymore per the "Par谩grafo 脷nico" of Article 74, Decree No. 9.199:

"聽 聽Art. 74. A Carteira de Registro Nacional Migrat贸rio ter谩 a validade de nove anos, contados a partir da data do registro, quando se tratar de resid锚ncia por prazo indeterminado.

聽 聽 聽Par谩grafo 煤nico. Na hip贸tese de que trata o caput, a validade da Carteira de Registro Nacional Migrat贸rio ser谩 indeterminada quando o titular:

聽 聽 聽I - houver completado sessenta anos de idade at茅 a data do vencimento do documento; ou

聽 聽 聽II - for pessoa com defici锚ncia."

The validity for the CRNM is nine years according to Decree No. 9.199, but there's apparently no fine for renewing late if the validity is "indeterminada". - @abthree

OK, I'm completely confused now.聽 I was under the impression if you have a CRNM with an indeterminate expiration date it doesn't expire, because it has no expiration date.聽

So when I'm 78 years old (hopefully I'm still alive), I need to trudge to the PF for a renewal?

I looked at the link you posted and it appears to say (at least according to Google translate):

Replace National Register of Migratory Register of resident for an indefinite period, due to the expiry of the term of validity of the document

To me that says if you have a document with an expiration date, you can renew for an indefinite period by following the steps.聽 If it is already indefinite, there is no renewal.聽 It's indefinite.

11/28/24 @mikehunter.聽 You're right -- corrected.

Thankyou all for your help and response. The person who told me they needed to renew was under 60. He was 38 he claimed he had the same document. But I did see his. I always impressed with the great people here and the knowledge we all share.
